You can redeem Pampers vouchers without buying the nappies

...at Sainsbury's.

I'd heard rumours to this effect on a money-anorak website I visit occasionally, and today I plucked up the nerve to try it.

With a £2 Pampers voucher in hand I went to the checkout -- if they'd challenged me I was going to say, "Whoops, silly me, I forgot to put the nappies in the trolley".

But they accepted it with never a squeak. Next stop, some Pampers changemats vouchers that arrived last week...

Come to my till please........ I love getting revenge at doing such a mind numbingly boring job, by embarrassing cheeky customers.....

While we're at it...

Stop eating the bloody grapes right in front of me!! (grumble grumble)

Don't think it works in Tescos though...

Tesco take Sainsbury's vouchers though

happy1 · 11/07/2004 18:42

It does work in tesco's! As long as tescos stock it, they'll take pretty much any voucher without you having to buy the item. I do it all the time, saves me loads! I go through my magasines and cut out any I can find.

woodpops · 11/07/2004 18:45

Asda accept any vouchers as long as they stock the item. You don't have to buy it but you can redeem it. I save them up and buy cd's and dvd's with them as I normally shop at Sainsburys!!!!

Tissy · 11/07/2004 18:46

lydialemon, don't start another grapes in supermarket thread! Are you grumbling because they eat them before they are weigheed, or because you're not allowed to have any?

Furball · 11/07/2004 19:26

My local Safeways take vouchers whether you buy the product or not. But Sainsburys, which is where I shop, don't. They have on several occassions queried where this product was in my shopping. Miserable gits.

lydialemon · 11/07/2004 20:36

Tissy - no comment I used to work for Woolies as well, I could start moaning about people letting their kids eat the pic'n'mix instead..............

bunny2 · 11/07/2004 22:13

woodpops, can you clarify that? I always throw Tesco vouchers away if I dont want to buy the item they refer to (ie 30 pence off olive oil). Can I use those in Asda? Really? I've thrown away £££s if that's the case. Damn.

In general, all of the big supermarkets will take branded coupons if they stock the product. They wont take other shops named coupons (the exception is Tesco - will take Sainsbury/Safeway total spend vouchers)

You normally have to actually buy the items if the coupon has a shop name specified on it.

All of the big shops will tell you that it is at the discretion of the individual store manager as to what/how many they will accept. I find Asda has the best record for accepting them - up to 3 of any individual coupon, maximum of 50% of shopping value.

Asda also normally have a price match policy - so take along your junk mail leaflets from all the supermarkets and ask at the till.
