Should a Caesarian scar still give discomfort 18 months after the op?

Had a emergency caesarian a year and a half ago and topically it's healed fine but ever since, I've had peculiar & intermittent twinges of pain coming directly from that area. Doc sent me for an ultrasound after 6 months and they found nothing but I'm still finding it rather disconcerting. Anyone else experience this sort of thing...?

MsMuffet- I had similar twinges for several years after my two cs, I think it's quite common but if worried I'd get it checked out again.

Yes, still get this a couple of years on. Disconcerting is the word.

It will be a year in May since my CS and I still get twinges - particularly if I do too much lifting or work around the house (what a lovely excuse to get DH to do hoovering that is!!). I think the healing of a CS is hugely underestimated - its a big trauma to the body!

I still get this too, especially if I am run down.

In fact, since having DS2 nearly 7 months ago, it is constantly sore.

Thanks for your replies. It actually feels that my scar is like a zip that's been stitched in to a garment too tight - sounds a bit odd but perhaps you'll know what I mean.

IGW - that's interesting about the being run down bit. Makes sense.

In retrospect, after the op, I think I was in shock for quite a while, as I'd been
totally unprepared for it (but, it has to be said, I was also very grateful by that late stage in proceedings...)

It does make me livid how blase people - mostly celebs in the media - are about C-sections. Almost like it's a cosmetic procedure that you can knock off in your lunch hour and be back at work in time for tea.

yes, and it leaves a dirty great scar. hardly glamourous

Dottydot · 19/03/2007 20:25

Yes - my ds2 is 3 in a few weeks and it still feels 'odd' - less painful than it used to be, but numb in a big patch and then sore/odd across the scar - and I've still got a little mini egg sized lump at one end of it!

Nikki76 · 19/03/2007 20:25

And your pubes don't seem to gro back very well just below the scar either.....ahh well, less money to fork out if I ever go for a brazillian....DH lives in hope I will get one.....DH has no idea of the pain!!

MsMuffet · 19/03/2007 20:37

Haven't been able to face any waxing, post-baby. Feel a bit feeble about it. I did have a brazillian once though - very pre-baby - just out of curiosity. An eye-watering and curious experience (and a whole different thread).

A comfort to know I'm not alone with my aching scar - thanks for all your replies ladies.
