What am I forgetting besides everything, I mean. I know I'll need to get some extra food in.... what else? We were going to get them Oyster cards and already have a couple of payg mobiles for visitors. They haven't travelled a lot with their kids (10yo and 8 yo twins - all boys). What should they do in London? We're in East London and they won't have a car. I still have a week before they get here, but probably need to start thinking a bit more about it sooner than the night before they arrive...

Thanks!

To move house before they arrive?

Towels (pref. clean) and lots of loo rolls

To set you hot water timer to "all day"!

when we went to visit my bro when he lived in Hong Kong, he did a little 'tourist pack' for us with a list of places he thought we should see, and bus/train/ferry info, and a little book on the history of the island he was living on. I thought that was great and it was really useful. Might be worth doing something similar, so they can know how to get to places/what's worth seeing from a local person's point of view. A map of the underground? A list of museums/attractions that are free entry?

Thanks! Ooh yes, loo rolls and perhaps an extra plunger? Clean towels left on their beds with clean sheets (! must remember that one too). Hot water at full capacity - v good idea.

The tourist pack idea is fab. It's easy peasy to get lots of places by bus from here but bus can be intimidating to some people, so a list of stops and where they go, maybe. And a local map so they don't get lost coming out of Vicky Park?

Please keep them coming. Do you think they'll offer to cook or arrange dinner one night? They are going to York for 2 days/ 2 nights so it's not really that long that they'll be here.

If they don't offer to cook for you you could suggest going out for a meal one night (or takeaways). Even if they don't pay they should at least split the cost and save you a night of thinking about it

Get in some leaflets (or print off web pages) about popular attractions, so they can see opening times, transport links etc right in front of them. That way they can do a bit of forward planning at the beginning of their stay in order to make the most of it.
