Taking 18- kids to cinema on last day of term....our local cinema are great but this is what they have suggested that we show them.
Just googled and although it came out as a PG in England, in USA it was thought to be unsuitable for under 13s (our kids are 11).

I am always very careful with the films we take them to see and would like to know whether anyone else has seen it and what they think.
TIA
Popsy

My dd1 (aged 8) was taken to see this for a friend's 9th birthday. Didn't see it myself -- don't think it would have been my personal choice, but the kids didn't seem traumatised by it.

Having said that, at my kids' school the policy is that in school time only videos rated U can be shown, not PG -- and that includes Year 6. So Harry Potter & co. would be off limits.

Gulp. I had no idea it might be unsuitable- my dd was taken to see it by a friend's mother with a small group, this was just before she was 6. She said she enjoyed it and she is a very easily traumatised child (sobbed uncontrollably all the way through Thunderpants, e.g.). She seemed to think it was quite funny. HTH!

Found this for you - might help with "analysing" the film for content/suitability.

My kids are a bit older but loved this film. Think Sister Act with a thick white bloke in Whoopi Goldberg's place.. Can't think why it wouldn't be suitable for 11 yos

[shamed whisper] I really liked this film! [\shamed whisper]

I think it'd be perfect for 180 eleven year olds, honestly. Our five year olds loved the rock scenes and there was nothing in it that I was unhappy for them to see. 11 y.o. punters would get the rest of the film a bit more but still appreciate the main character's rocking silliness, I'd have thought. Actually, it's got quite a good anti-hothousing message amid the silliness too so you could invite any worringly pushy parents to be helpers!

Hope the trip goes well, pops.

hi Janstar. I've been round and about. How are you?

I went to see this film too and I think it is suitable for 11 year olds. Good luck with 180 kids in a cinema though.
The school I work in did it a couple of years ago and took the entire school (including nursery 4 year olds) to watch The Little Vampire! They were traumatised, I've got no idea who suggested they watched that film!

Took my little girl to see this on her 7th bitrthdy - she loved it but not as much as we did .
