Anyone continue using the carrycot/flat pram beyond 6 months?

I do love pushing dd in her carrycot (M&P 3in 1) and I'm in no rush to change her into the pushchair bit. Has anyone gone down the reins in carrycot route tipping the base up so LO can see out? Does it work?

I've tried tipping the base up but the wee lamb tends to slump down so i'm wondering about buying reins...

...or do I just get over myself and accept that she's growing up and get the pushchair bit out of the loft?

Ds loved his pram even more when we changed it to the pushchair bit. He leans forward and crows with delight at all the things he can see. I think your pram allows her to face you anyway doesn't it? Perfect.

DD was in her big silver cross for a while longer, she wore traditional leather walking reins cliped in. It was so high she could se loads and as it was in the summer she looked gorgeous sitting up in her little dresses and hats.

(Skribble, that's exactly the look I have in mind - adorable...)

wasn't really against, if your dd is happy in the carrycot thing, enjoy it. Ds kept straining to sit up in his so was happier when we changed it. I think it's supposed to be much better for them to lay flat for sleeps in the pram, rather than slump in a pushchair

SBUE, thanks for clarifying!

I think my dd is like your LO and strains to see out. She's much happier the times I click the carseat onto the wheels. Shame, as I wanted to keep the pram top as long as possible this time (everything's zooming past 2nd time round, first time I was desparate for the next stage!)

Tassis might be easier to prop her up with a cushion behind her rather than use the bit that can be raised. If slumping is an issue maybe put rolled up blanket/small cushion at her feet under the apron bit so she can't slip down. Our dd loved the flat pram and we only gave up on it when she was too long to lie flat and sleep in it comfortabley - just under eight months. We rarely used reins with it because it wasn't really warm enough at that point and we found with the hood up and the apron over the bottom she was held in, also didn't make any effort to look over sides as was just happy to be able to see round her.
