Haemangiomas on Labia

My 1 year old was born with a birthmark on her labia. Since she's been more mobile it's occasionally been bleeding and this week took her to the doctor. She is being referred to a dermatologist to look at getting it removed. This weekend it's become worse and she's screaming everytime she wee's because it's stinging. I've started using Vaseline as a barrier but it's not really helped. The DR said to use sudo cream and talc but it seems to have made it worse. Any suggestions or similar experiences would be great!

I wouldn't use talc on her, I wouldn't even use talc on myself if I'm honest. Stick with the sudocrem and leave her nappy off as much as possible. Hope it gets sorted soon.

Poor little thing!

Try Bepanthen?

mowgeli · 07/05/2017 16:37

Oh dear, that sounds horrendous. Try to use a barrier cream like bepanthen. What about pouring warm water on her whilst she goes to the toilet? A panty liner in her knickers with witch hazel? You said when she goes to the toilet, is she potty trained yet?

Mum050516 · 07/05/2017 16:41

Yes stopped using talc and sudo cream. We were using bepanthen before the DR visit and it seemed like it was managing it. Have started using vaseline to act as a barrier cream. Seems to wash away after the first wee though.

No not potty trained. She just turned a year on friday. Have been leaving her nappy off and observing her when she wee's.

Sounds good to me to leave the nappy off. I would say to carry on with the Bepanthen as it's a barrier not just a medicated cream like Sudocream.
Obviously a nappy off at night isn't very practical so I would just suggest changing it as much as possible without disturbing her routine.
I would also be giving her arnica supplement in order to help it heal. Poor thing.

Mum050516 · 07/05/2017 17:05

Oh arnica sounds like a good shout. My nan swears by it! Thanks

Arnica tablets only, the cream is not for broken skin.
Hope you get it sorted soonFlowers

Mum honestly, it is the BEST for healing. I notice I heal so much faster if I use it.
That and try to keep her urine as neutral as possible maybe? Speak to a doctor and see if there's something she can take to neutralise the PH of her urine?

Drinking plenty of water should help with stinging wee. Dilutes it plenty.

How are things going?
