It's a beautiful morning here, and I'm looking forward to it! How's your morning shaping up?

It's a Quaker church I've been visiting. I love it! Smile I find so many churches too noisy. Anglican good too.

also for the girls exploring faith, have you considered Alpha and/or Christianity explored?

my toddler toddler has anounced my other shoe is "hiding"!!!

I was pondering going so this is quite apt. I haven't gone regularly for a while as moved to a new area a year ago, and DP is agnostic but not up for any organised religion (he's happy if I go but won't come with)
We live very near a big church with a busy congregation, and I went on Easter Sunday and really liked it. I have some time this morning so many should just go! Also possibly making some big life changes and could use a big of divine intervention this week to get through Grin

To the PP thinking about exploring church, do you know what sort of church you like? Traditional? More modern? I like the younger, electric guitars type of stuff, so looked for indications of what I like when googling local churches. You can also go once and if it doesn't feel right, maybe try a different one with a different ethos next time? Church cultures do vary quite a bit.

unihorn I'd been interested in the Quakers for about 10 years before I set foot in a meeting house. Essentially their basic testimonies of peace, simplicity, truth, equality and social justice are how I feel we should all live our lives if we want a better world. I particularly like the idea of looking "for that of God in everyone" which seems so positive. I don't have a traditional Christian belief in God and that seems to be not uncommon amongst Quakers (as far as I can tell so far).

I like the silence at Quaker meetings - they talk about "waiting in stillness for the light". I also like the fact that anyone can offer ministry in the meeting - it could be personal, political or an observation.

I do prefer more of a traditional setup with regards to hymns and readings, I'm not a fan of the young guitar players I'm afraid, it feels a bit too "hippy" to me! Blush but I find the Anglican church a bit stilted at times.

My previous church was an 800 year old "proper" church but I connected well with the vicar, he wasn't solemn and would walk around smoking his pipe before the service, and make jokes throughout. Whereas the vicar who married us was very traditional and... Boring really!

But when reading up on local churches the Quakers' beliefs had me intrigued. I don't think I would enjoy the silence or lack of a clear structure though!

I've been going to a baptist church since last summer. I take DD who is 4 and she attends the Sunday school and loves it. It started as a whim as I was so lonely and have been every week since, I have met many lovely people there.

We are but not until the evening service - all will be there as ds1 is being baptised 😊.

Think I will take the baby to her first service today! There's a family one at 11.30 at our local church. Anyone have experience of the family type services in Anglican churches? I've only been to your typical Sunday morning service before! My local church also does messy church on weekends now which I think will be a nice way to introduce the baby.

We go to messy church and it's great fun. They serve lunch afterwards. Our church is incredibly family friendly. Give it a go unihorn
