In the spirit of charidee and Red Nose Day on Friday....

DH and I have just trawled the high street and shopping mall for red t-shirts for the kids to wear to school on Friday.

Yes, TK maxx sell them but only in XL, Oxfam only sell the noses (bought two), Claires sell red wigs and boingy things for your head, I WANT A SODDING RED T-SHIRT. Everything, when you're looking for red, is blue/pink/purple/sludge green.

Finally, after two hours and increasing grumpiness I went into QS and found two red polo shirts in the right sizes for a pound each. I was like this .

Of course, DS will love his and wear it happily. DD will look at it with horror that it isn't in the least bit girly but it is a red t-shirt so she can like it or lump it!

Collapses in heap with the exhaustion of yet another school homework for parents.

Next week, easter bonnet preparation.

Stand by your beds for inspection.....

My dd is wearing her "05" t-shirt from last time. No doubt she will suffer at school for not having the right one but hey ho. Tesco's were selling a red t-shirt for boys for £1.50

Kbear · 13/03/2007 14:50

In ASDA they looked at me blankly, Sainsburys doesn't sell clothes, no Tescos nearby. The supermarkets usually come up trumps with basic Tshirts in basic colours don't they.

I do like to get in the spirit of events like this but honestly, I would rather sit here with a mug of coffee and MN on my day off!

little boys in red T shirts look yummy

KBear - DD is making her brownie promise tonight and DS starts nursery tomorrow

Kbear · 13/03/2007 14:54

the only ones I could find said "I'm a little bugger" etc on the front - don't do slogans!

Good luck to DD for tonight (send us a pic), my DD is a Tuesday Brownie too! And nursery for the fella - big week in the MamaG household then.

it took me an hour, literally, to sew her "gnome" badge onto her hoodie

3andnomore · 13/03/2007 15:02

my es school just do a mufty day where they have to wear big clothes (adult clothes, and/or red, we already goit a red nose each, and we also got the walkears....!
So, luckily not that difficult!

Kbear · 13/03/2007 15:49

So a baker not a seamstress then MamaG!

Don't they have sashes for their badges in her pack? I suppose not a problem unless they grow fast and you have to unpick all the badges and sew them on the new hoodie!

OP posts:
MamaG · 13/03/2007 15:54

they have their gnone badge (or whatever) on hoodie and badges on the sash

i'm glueing the rest on when she earns them

her hoodie is huge, sleeves rolled up, I got it from a car boot sale for £1.50 wiuth the T shirt!

Kbear · 13/03/2007 17:39

glueing on the badges - class!

I think DD's first badge should be seamstress so she can sew her own badges on poor love!

Can you not just dye a white one?

exbury · 13/03/2007 17:45

Sorry, Kbear, but I cannot resist the urge to boast that for once in my life I was organised.

This time last year I was on the same trail as you - to even less effect. This year I ordered the T Shirt online - weeks ahead - STILL couldn't get the kids long sleeved T-shirt, but have a short sleeved one - and noses - now all I have to do is find a plain-ish long sleeved T-shirt for DS so that he can wear it over the top.

Which I was going to do last week, since I am pretty sure he has grown out of all the ones he has. Bother. Not so organised after all.

And I just read the note from school - they are providing noses - so that bit was a waste of time, then

Kbear · 13/03/2007 21:02

boast away exbury.

I'm already getting geared up with ideas for easter hats. They aint gonna catch me unprepared again.....

No mention of easter hats as yet - come to think of it, maybe I need to re-read a newsletter?

We are firm believers in the Easter Beagle in our house, so it would have to be a Snoopy-themed hat...
