meeting with Head- was this unprofessional?

Just had a meeting with head today regarding My ds exclusion and with the education regarding a statement for ds.

There were 2 TA'S, senco, head and deputy head, all there to put there point a view across. Anyway I was told that they had concerns about ds.
That another parent had spoke to the head about DS and that he was a topic of conversation in a gym- what a cheek!
The fact that my ds was an angel at home and the fault was with the school. WHAT!!!!
I was really annoyed as I had a conversation with the head a few days earlier as ds is on exclusion and she knew this wasn't the case as I explained all the difficulties I was having and my concerns at school.
I found this really offensive and rather intimidating with all the staff. I know the educuation officer was most surprised and she knew this wasn't the case as ds is under going assessment. I did speak to her today about it and I said I feel really upset by this.
I also told the school not to listen to playground gossip and that I didn't know who made this untrue comment. But I now feel upset by the whole thing and is this the right school for my ds and me. I found this was rather unprofessional and reflecting from the real concern about my son's education for god sake! This is all I need at this difficult time. larsxx

did the parent talk about your son with the head in the gym?

If so the head should have refused to discuss it further witht he person concerned/

I dread to think what is said about my son! And i would not be impressed if it was wheeled out at a meeting.

Did you get anywhere with regards to getting an assessment for a statement?

Hi jimjams,
The parent was talking to another parent at the gyn and he was the topic of conversation- how sad are there lives! I can't believe she even listen to this clap trap mother who I don't even know.

The statement process will take about 6 months. So he goes back in september part time and still without a one to one help. I am so fed up with it all.
We have appointment tomorrow with developmental pad at our local hospital. The education feel it may be ADHD as she is very familar with other children who are like ds. larsxx

I think it was highly unprofessional of the Head to bring up gossip in a meeting of professionals. I suspect she made herself look pretty silly in front of the other professionals too. The meeting should have been about the facts and also the opinions of the people in the room - not some Sweaty-Betty in a gym!

This and the fact that your ds has been excluded for so long and at such a young age makes me think that you really might be better off looking for a more suitable school somewhere else.

Apologies for over-use of the word "professionals". It's been a loooong week!

Coppertop, I couldn't agree more.

The education has said that if I withdraw ds of the school role, I am responsible for finding him another placement. It could also slow down the statement process and not many schools would accept ds with his track record and they didn't think it would be good to move dd coming up to her final year.
I don't feel really happy and now feel upset and angry at the bl---y system. He will not get a one to one for a least 4-6 months with the statement process taking so long. larsxx
