I was just thinking same. Went on e-bay for sme reason too!

The one's I noticed were:

Little Angels dresses going for £10+P&P. I get these from T G Hughes for between £4 and £7 generally.

I also got DD a Kangaroo Poo t-shirt there yesterday. DD had a slight accident in her nap and wet her trousers and top. T short cost be £3. There are t-shirts of same make on there for double that and more at times!

Postage always seems so high too. having posted many items to MNetters I know that these little dresses and clothes cost so little, and many of the toys are down for £7.50 postage - and even first class post is opften cheaper!

Oh, and the Little Tykes plastic rocking horse. Postage alone is £11.50. This rocking horse can be bought for £9.99 in Toys R Us!!!

That's market forces I guess - something is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it!

(not saying I agree with ripping off but let's face it, people pay £500 for a crappy T-shirt from Prada and tbh it's only worth a fiver, why should e-bay traders not ask what they like if people will pay it!)

Hulababy · 04/07/2004 18:12

Oh I agree CD. Good luck to all the sellers. If people are willing to pay it....

The postage costs frustrate me though.

CountessDracula · 04/07/2004 18:21

Yes I agree, do you check when you get something that the postage quoted was what it cost? I must say I never have.

norty

Hulababy · 04/07/2004 18:22

I have never bought from e-bay yet; just spend hours surfing it. LOL!

Must say having posted toys etc, the postage costs are high. But I have also complained and left feedback where I've felt that they've overcharged for p&p. Tbh most private sellers just seem to charge for postage, not even for packing.

I have once knowingly paid slightly over the odds for something, but basically because I was reassured that the ebay sellor would dispatch same day, whilst the Playmobile website couldn't guarentee dispatch for up to 14 working days, and I needed the item as a present.

I still find it handy for kid free shopping though!

SoupDragon · 04/07/2004 18:40

When I sell on ebay I charge cost for P&P plus a small amount (usually just round up postage to a nice figure) to cover the packing. If I know the cost beforehand I put it in the listing - it's not difficult to do!

I've also paid over the odds before for something I really wanted for DS1 quickly and couldn't find in the shops.

When I post anything to anyone (not used e-bay, but say through MN) I work out P&P roughly using the Royal Mail site. And I have started using brown paper and string for packaging as seems much lighter than the postage boxes - and certainly okay for clothes.
