I have recieved an email apparently from the US government informing me I have been accessing illegal websites (which is a load of SH*T...I only really use MN and Tescos!!) and that they can provide me with the list through the attatchment. IT HAS A NETSKY VIRUS. If you open it and it doesn't come up with the virus, it will ask you about purchasing computer protection......PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS.......I have just trawled the internet to find that this is going on a lot and is the latest attempt by hackers to get your bank details. Just thought I would warn you all cos I nearly fell for it....

I've received this morning email from US National Bank subject Online Banking Issue but no attachment my inclination is to delete without opening it - can you get something nasty without an attachment?

busybee123 · 25/06/2004 10:15

My 81 year-old mother has an aol subscription. She received an e-mail saying that her account was invalid because her credit card had expired and asking her to give them details of the new card. The e-mail was from someone at Yale University, not from aol and must have been an attempt to get her to hand over her credit card details. Luckily I opened the e-mail, as she gets very little e-mail and had no idea that someone might send her spam like this.

I've had a few pretending to be from eBay lately. The look really authentic and say that somebody has been using your eBay account illegally, and to confirm all your details.

Clicking on the link appears like it is goin to the eBay site. It is amazing how clever some of this scams are.

I was suspicious when I was asked for bank details and forwarded the mail to eBay, who confirmed it was fake.

PLEASE IF YOU GET ANY EMAILS ASKING FOR BANK DETAILS - CHECK THEM OUT FIRST!!!
