Would a William be in danger of teasing?

I think William's a really good name, and dh seems to like it too - so it's definitely on our shortlist for baby names. However I am slightly concerned - this is really stupid, and I'm very, very sorry if I offend anyone - but does the fact it could be shortened to "Willy" mean there's any danger of the dreaded playground teasing? Do any teachers, or parents of Williams have any experience of this? Or is it the case that there's no way we can protect our children from every potential source of teasing, and as it's a great name I just shouldn't be so oversensitive?

Thanks for all your comments. I think I've just been spending too long in the sad world of toilet training.

Williams a great name, at one point there were three in my sons nursery class. At some point in your baby's life there will be King William, if anyone makes fun of his name it will be off with his head.

My mum really wanted to call my brother William but was convinced by other's he'd be called Willy so she didn't. Then at school his best mate was called Will and she was really annoyed!

Following countess D's comments about unfortunate surnames, years ago my Dad used to work for the DSS. They had an unmarried, elderly couple on their books called Percy Large and Fanny Slack!!!
Surely a match made in heaven!!
