How to make travel cot more comfy?

Hi

Suggestions appreciated!

DD spends 2 nights per week in my room in her Graco Travel Cot. The one with a low thin base and fabric mesh sides.

She never sleeps particularly well in the contraption but needs must.

This week I have a friend coming with her 5 month old dd so she will have dd's room with cot and single bed for 5 nights.

I really need a way to make the travel cot more comfortable for my dd otherwise we'll be zombies!

I just broke dd's cot bed (hunting for superglue now!) trying to move it into my bedroom. So that's not an option unless I take it all apart.....

I'd like to find a permanent solution for the travel cot anyway as dd will be spending 2 nights in there for the forsee-able future.

Anyone got any ideas?

TIA

Hi there,

This thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little of date.

If you're not sure about travel cots, take a look our reviews page for advice from the Lullaby Trust on travel cot mattresses, we also round up our top five travel cots in this article.

Hope that helps,

MNHQ

Why does she spend 2 nights a week in your room? Where is she for the rest of the week [confused!]

We put a sinlge duvet folded up under the the thin base and then blankets on top tucked in tight for DS. He is a v comfy bunny

Paddle, i bought my travel cot in an old fashioned type shop (but its a regular new stylee cot )

the lady in the shop said there were mattresses available for these cots, i bought one (£15) and its great

obv not very travel friendly but if you ar just using it in your house (mine was for Grans house only) then maybe you could try and see if you could get one too

erm, superglue doesn't work on wood LOL!

she spends 2 nights in with me while my mum stays to do childcare for me. the rest of the week she's in her own cot in her room.

good ideas for padding out the bottom. i'd like the idea of another mattress, where did you get it from?

only got a spare double duvet which is probably too big i fear.

towel under the sheet is good - will try that one tonight.

Thanks

i've found a made to measure seller on ebay which is £19.99 plus p&p so about £27 total.

why did i not realise you could buy mattresses for travel cots!

i didnt realise either until the woman in the shop to ld me!

i think its cos having a mattress makes it less 'travel' but its good they are aviailable

i would give you mine but ive given it to a neighbour im afraid

we did take the cot on holiday once and used some blankets and sheets under the main sheet and it worked just as well

Paddlechick666 · 28/02/2007 16:07

aw thanks! that's really kind.

i'm going to get one of these

i've got a few quid in my paypal account i've just remembered.

it's a folding one so it's a reasonably transportable if we're going away, in the car at least!
