Poker girl here. I have never forgotten the iniquity when my brother aged 6 & only 1 year older than me was allowed to stay up & play poker with my dad & his friends.

Things did change though. Have fond memories of my dad, frail & ailing, teaching his grandchildren how to play poker. Boys & girls.

Not sure about bagpipes, the wailing noise sounds like a dying manatee, but I could always hide in the library till he'd finished fingering his blow stick and squeezing his bag.

I forgot to take playing cards on holiday last summer - it's surprising how many games you can actually play with a pack of UNO cards. Including strip UNO, once the kids are in bed. I want to patent that one.

I don't know that playing strip UNO with you lot is really my scene, though we could all get braterventions from married at the same time, which would be useful.

Ooh we're going on another Norway Cruise in August. We loved it so much last time. We opened the curtains after sailing through the night to this view. We also went kayaking down Geirangerfjord. Amazing.

I've won $38m dollars on online poker. Unfortunately it's all virtual money. I wouldn't have the cojones to play with my own, real money.

My eyes start crossing when DH starts talking odds in poker ( he does play quite serious poker) - and when it comes to 'the river' and 'the flop' they glaze over too......I nod wisely.
But I will happily play , but it won't be a pretty sight ( me that is! )

There's a German card game called 'Skat' [puerile] that is not dissimilar to poker and relies on odds and being aware of what cards have already been played etc etc - I used to play it a lot in my misspent yoof. Now I can barely remember the rules, really fail to see the attraction and my eyes glaze over too when anybody goes on about poker rules/strategies/odss.

So, in summary, I don't drink currently, I don't smoke never have and I don't gamble. Surely, I must have a promiscuous personal life?!
