I love them bald patches

I remember when dd got it and I kept finding a patch of hairs on her mattress.

Am wondering if I should just do one big swoop with the scissors at the back.
I cant really see him sitting still at a hairdressers.

I just truim DS1s hair along the nape of his necak (although, with his curls, it does give him the mid-90s fop look )

I waited until he was able to sit still wioth a banana or smothing that would keep him quite for 5 mins while I got busy!

RnBee · 22/02/2007 12:25

Oh he is gorgeous! I love long hair on boys! ds1 has long ringlets and they are lovely!

NbgsYellowFeathers · 22/02/2007 12:26

lol

Might give it a go then later.
I'm going to end up crying chopping it off, lol.

I sobbed the first time I cut DS1s hair.

But I kept it in a little box. [pathetic]

NAB3 · 22/02/2007 12:28

My son had his first hair cut last month as it was getting quite long and all the back had lovely curls. He loked so grown up afterwards and could do with another cut already!!

NbgsYellowFeathers · 22/02/2007 12:28

Oh I'll certainly keep it.
It can go next to their umbilical cord stumps

DS4 has a real mullet going on at the moment. He's 20 months and has never had it cut. I love it, mostly because it is his baby hair, he is my last and I don't want him to look too grown up yet.

Anjo1 · 22/02/2007 12:33

leave his hair alone , he is perfect !!

BarbieLovesKen · 22/02/2007 12:40

He is an absolutely beautiful little boy but for Gods sake cut that hair!

sunnyjim · 22/02/2007 12:42

I cut DS hair when he was a year old - it wasn't very long but it was really scruffy looking. I've seen alot of little boys with 'long' hair that looks great - the surfer look - i wanted DS to look like that too but his hair just doens't do that!
On the other hand I've seen little boys with thin straggly hair that their mum is letting grow cos she thinks long curls look cute - it looks awful!
If its thick, easy to manage, doesn't get tnagled and you have no temper tantrums over washing it then leave it!

One tip is that if its patchy at any stage SHAVE IT! DS had really patchy hair at 8 months a thick bit on top, a fringe around the base of his skull and patches in other areas. We left the top bit as a mohican and shaved the rest off - it grew back in lovely and thick, so thick I have to cut it regulary now otherwise it gets horribly tangled. I'm happy for him to have hair whatever length and style he wants once he is old enough to comb/wash it himself.
mind you DH had waist length blonde hair in his teens so no macho posturing there!

sunnyjim · 22/02/2007 12:43

just seen the pic - he looks fine, cute/surfy/scruffy look very cool!

the legolas look is a bit worrying but your lad doens't look like that!

fishie · 22/02/2007 12:44

is it ok for him? is it getting tangled or caught (this made me cut ds hair recently)? men can be paranoid about girly things for sons. it is a bore cutting it so leave alone if you can 6 months far too young to worry about this.

Biglips · 22/02/2007 12:46

wow!!!...was he born with a thick mop of hair?..as he got more hair than my 2.4yrs old.

NbgsYellowFeathers · 22/02/2007 12:48

Oh I know dh is paranoid about it, the arse

lol BLK

Its not causing any problems for him but he does have reflux so it does get slathered in puke quite alot!

NbgsYellowFeathers · 22/02/2007 12:49

Yep was born with it all. Shocked quite a few of the mw's

Hes only 12 weeks in that pic.

Gross, get it cut off. Short back and sides for boys chez shoppingbags. Actually ds' hair stands straight on end and is about 4 inches high at present

deaconblue · 22/02/2007 14:25

sorry, just looked at cute photo, I didn't mean your ds was gross, he's rather lovely. I meant long hair on boys in general.

Hulababy · 22/02/2007 14:31

He looks lovely Quite like longish hair on little boys anyway; far nicer than a severe short back and sides or even worse it all cut off really short!

mumto3girls · 22/02/2007 14:40

He's so cute!! Leave it !!

themoon66 · 22/02/2007 14:45

Oooooh. Gorgeous.. leave it alone!

My DS had hair like that, but then wanted it short at school. Now he's 15 and has it long again. I would post a pic if I knew how.

Gobbledigook · 22/02/2007 14:48

He's very cute but for Gawd's sake cut his hair!

Only joking - do what you want to do - personally I cut it. Ds1's was like that and we cut it from quite an early age as we thought he looked daft! Ahhh!

TwoIfBySea · 22/02/2007 15:03

No his hair is lovely as is he! My dts didn't get their hair cut until they were just over 1 year old, remember to take a clipping of their first hair when you do get the deed done!

It is up to you though Nbgs, my dh wanted our boys to have their hair cut sooner but I hung off until it started looking silly.

This is just before we went to the barber. Same barber dh has always used and unfortunately I have to say they suit short hair rather than long!
