Longest job: civil servant. Also been: bar staff, cocktail waitress, stock checker in a warehouse, various voluntary jobs, done PGCE and been a SAHM.
Conclusion - can't stick at things 😀

Nanananananagigglebiz · 05/12/2016 13:09

Can't stick at things at all..
I have been a groom, a despatch rider, a student, an admin worker, a jewellery seller, telephone sales/research/fundraising, TEFL teacher, a volunteer in a charity bookshop and self employed proofreader/editor.

ah yes TEFL - the last resort of the directionless.

BratFarrarsPony · 05/12/2016 13:13

oh yes also bar staff and kitchen worker.

AllTheBabies · 05/12/2016 13:15

I work in a shop. I have no desire to have a "career". I do tend to stay in jobs for a long time though. They are just all shit jobs Grin

Nanananananagigglebiz · 05/12/2016 13:21

I have worked in admin/customer service in Universities, Legal and Health fields.

Oh wow, me too! Think the longest I've lasted in a job was 4 years. Done all sorts

Scribblegirl · 05/12/2016 13:31

BratFarrarsPony · 05/12/2016 13:33

ah yes Saggitarius the eternal student...

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 05/12/2016 13:35

For the main part of my career administrator/bookkeeper. Was made redundant when dc3 was 2 weeks old. Then had an evening job as a bookmaker which I really enjoyed. I went back to being a SAHM not long after I found out I was pregnant with dc4. He's 17 months now so I'm starting to look for sonething that's evening based again.

Groovee · 05/12/2016 13:37

Early Years Practitioner. Qualified in 1997! Been that ever since. Not sure what else I would do.

Twoevils · 05/12/2016 13:37

A million waiting/bar jobs, checkout person, au pair, kids club helper, crafty stallholder, tour guide, office manager, it graduate, it tech, it support and now SAHM but volunteer in local community, scouts, school and dementia cafe. Love a bit of variety me!

ToneDeafHamster · 05/12/2016 13:37

I have had tons of jobs over the years, only thing I have stuck at is working in our own business with my DH. Its been 13 years now. Although there were many times I wanted to jack it in. We are in the film industry. Its interesting enough, but I do get bored easily. I am currently a SAHM though, and not rushing to go back.

comeagainforbigfudge · 05/12/2016 13:40

Staff nurse for 8 years (well 11 if you count 3 years training)
Admin/bar work/telephony before that. Not really a job hopper. Hate interviews.

5000candlesinthewind · 05/12/2016 13:40

I've done a few shitty low paid jobs and then settled in go being a SAHM for 7 years.
I've had sooo many different ideas of what I will be when I grow up though and they all vary wildly.

WhereDoAllThePokemonGo · 05/12/2016 18:39

Clinical Scientist (Medical Physics) - love my job and have no ideas of swapping for anything else in the near future Smile

CantstandmLMs · 05/12/2016 18:46

Have been a nanny for 11 years, same family for the last 9.5 Hmm I have been studying with the OU (open degree - mostly psychology) for the last 2 years. Would love to do something else when I have my degree but no idea what!

FetchezLaVache · 05/12/2016 18:54

I've been a freelance translator for 15 years. Love it, have no aptitude desire to do anything else.

But I've also done recruitment, sales admin, advertising sales, bar work, waitressing, hotel reception/chambermaid, nannying, washing dishes, milking (cows), tractor work, Saturday girl in a hair salon, etc etc.

1DAD2KIDS · 05/12/2016 18:56

From school Electronics Technician RAF and then Train driver. If I can do that for the 30 years and retire I'll be happy. Work is the easy bit, being a single parent is the real work and the work that is most important.
