So how much do you neglect your less precious second born?

Following on from the brilliant PFB thread....

I can't believe how different I am with my second.

We get through about half as many nappies as with the first.
At two months he is still in babygros rather than little outfits because I can't be bothered with anything else.
With my PFB I got hardly any housework done; with LPSB I not only do the washing and cleaning but also make loads of soup, bake biscuits etc.... (PFB is in nursery.)
I haven't taken any photos but have relied on ones relatives and friends took.

Anyone else?

I should add that I adore him just as much - the other stuff just doesn't seem so important.

You should see what I'm like with my 3rd

KathyMCMLXXII · 16/02/2007 15:41

Oh God, if I had three I would be always losing one.

My second-born (still equally loved) didn't get out of his pjs three days last week. We put clean ones on him at night but still...
And the things he's had to eat! First-born only had organic wholefood stuff til she was about 18 months and he's already had chocolate buttons (9 months)...

I have 2 and soon to be 3! I can't bring myself to put LPSB since she is EPSB (equally precious). Yes, I spent less time with her since I have less time but I know better what being a mummy is about. She also gets the benefits of PFB and finds her a hoot! So all in all she is OK!

KathyMCMLXXII · 16/02/2007 15:47

EPSB - right you are, Speckled Hen.

I neglect all my children equally

Ha, my third is positively neglected! He wears FAR fewer clothes than the other two (no2 was a girl, so obviously needed 3 changes of cute dresses each day).

I realised how much more relaxed I am now at the swimming pool. With ds1 I was convinced at every moment that he would drown...with dd I took her younger, and splashed her face, with ds2 I and my friend have been chucking him under the water and letting go to make him swim, from being 6 or 7 months (not at an aquababes class) - he loves it, and does make an attempt to swim. I also realised when I was having a shower on the pool side, dd was playing on a woggle, slipped off and under the water - with ds1 he would have been NOWHERE near the water, now, I thought 'she'll bob up in a minute'. Which of course she did.

Ds1 won't get his face wet and finds swimming very hard - the other two are litte fish. Work that one out!

Nemo2007 · 16/02/2007 15:49

although will agree with OP and say I get through far less nappies with no.2+3 than I did with Ds..

well we have had parties for all of ds1's 5 birthdays and none so far for ds2's 2. His 3rd is next month and there are still no plans for anything.

The worst was on the first Father's Day after ds2 was born. I got dh a card from the dss. He was all over ds1 cuddling and kissing him and I actually had to remind him that he had another son. Ds2 was only a few months old so probably not that bothered.

My second is dragging herself up and far, from having the stairgate for one small stair that I confessed to on the PFB thread, I was v pleased when she was discovered at the top of the stairs at about 16 months because it meant she was getting the hang of it.

Jimjams2 · 16/02/2007 20:33

ds2 "is that a photo of me mummy?"

no that's ds1

Onf of my friends, who had her PFB at the same time as I had my NSC, expressed surprised and horror at my 7 month old being in a babygrow at 3 in the afternoon

"Haven't you dressed him?"

"Whaddya mean? His skin's covered, isn't it?"

BuffysMum · 16/02/2007 20:38

mmmmmm

Me "Oh what's that noise dp??????"

Dp "That'll be dd4"

Me "- oh yeah I forgot we have her........." honestly on more than one occasion it happened!

dd2 aged 3.2 I'd just come out of hospital with dd4, we were sat eating tea a few hours later "Whose that baby's Mummy?" me "I am", dd2 "don't be silly mummmy!"

We were out at a car boot sale 8am in the morning when she 2.5 days old - well I was awake anyway so why not??????
