Cinema timings are so anti-parents!

Well, I'm sure they don't do it on purpose but the consequence of their film timings mean it is difficult for me and DH to go.

3 cinemas in our area and we have a choice of a 6.30ish showing or an after 9pm showing.

We can't expect our babysitters to put our 1 year old to bed and go to the early viewing. But I', not keen on the 9pm showing either. The film won't start until 9.30 so we won't get back home until 11.30 which is a bit late for our babysitters who have weekend jobs to get to the next morning. Plus, I don't like to drink before going to watch a film, so what would we do until 9pm?

Anyone else find this where they live?

In my day...... film used to be on around 8pm. Perfect time.

Same in our area too - only time we go now is when we are visiting our parents - the show times there are sometimes more convenient.

i find it varies from cinema to cinema, what were you going to see

I disagree

I think the timings are good, how can 11.30 be too late to get back from a night out!?

At least if it is 9pm you get time to get some food first

See, I don't think it leaves enough time to have a meal first.

11:30pm wouldn't be a late night for a different type of event but for those occasions we'd ask my parents to take the children overnight or have my mum stay here and babysit.

I agree, very annoying. We had a rare night out the other week, had a meal then the 9.15 showing of Casino Royale. Didn't finish til midnight, MIL was ringing our mobiles thinking we'd had car crash and we were soknackered the next day. 8 or 8.30 would have been much better

LucyJones · 14/02/2007 19:39

I agree with you. If the film starts at 9.30pm (the actual film not the trailers) you would probably only get out of the cinema at 11.30pm and then still have to get home.

I would prefer an 8 or 8.30 start time, now you mention it.

We have 6 ish and 8ish here, they very occasionally do 10pm showing too but haven't seen them for quite a while
