During the school run the other day we were involved in a very scary collision with another parent's car... fortunately no-one was hurt, I make sure my child is ALWAYS belted in (as am I), and the other car's occupants were also OK, but we were all in a mild state of shock...! The fault was the other mother's and insurance are covering the damage (smashed headlamps and crumpled bonnet ), but words can't describe how much the incident has shaken me. I'm frightened to get back behind a wheel now!

Our insurers Cornhill have also sent me this new site of theirs on road safety , which does have some good sound advice about safe motoring (and making sure your windscreen is road-worthy - something I know I've neglected in the past!), and I guess with a bit of time my fear will diminish. such an awful shock though

I know how you feel.
Last summer we were crawling along in a traffic jam and someone crashed into the back of us, everyone got such a fright, the kids cried, it took a long time to recover from the shock and Ds1 (15) still complains about being nervous in the car and keeps backseat driving. Our car was written off and the guy had no insurance, he left his car and ran away
Still, we were all uninjured so have to be very thankfull for that!

Nothing can prepare you for the shock of a car accident, even if it is only the car that gets damaged. I was involved in a similar accident as sushikitty, however I was parked and unbuckled waiting for the kids outside there school, a car drove into the back of my parked car. I sustained a neck injury which took the best part for 6 months to completely heal. So its proves to show that wearing your seat belt while driving is not enough, my neck injury would have been alot less worse if been wearing my belt.

Checked out your link kitty, I too have overlooked the importance of windscreen standard which I won?t be doing again, road safety is something you don't want to be cutting corners with!
