DH1 needs a new car and is thinking about a land rover, 4x4 type of thing, really need 7 seats.

Please give points of view,

DH1 is a builder so often needs to take alot of stuff to/from work.

Also if we all go out somewhere, like to visit family at xmas , birthdays ect (i don't drive yet) there is me, DH1, my new partner, (sorry if confussing everyone) 2 kids and my mom and sometimes my sister, so we need more seats.

But i think a MPV is going to be better then a 4x4.

Mumsnet jury....

we have a VW touran - 7 seats or 5 plus a huge boot. And it's deisel - better than a 4x4 any day IMO

hello, you have a very interesting life so you can afford to have a boring car...i have the xc90 and must say it is expensive to run and i feel a little snobby ,if i had 2 husbands i would go for a touran diesel ,7 seats very reliable, and very very good value second hand and believe me I know my cars having read 'what car'start to finish for a year before buying the xc90 xxxxx

Landrovers are fab and are not hard to drive at all. They can be converted to run on LPG or veg oil which keeps both the cost and the environmental impact down. They are great for towing (in case he might want to put building stuff in a trailer rather than messing up the interior) and of course they are excellent if it snows or if there is flooding. The driving position is brilliant and you can see all sorts of things that you wouldn't from a "normal" car. Can you tell I like them?

jura I know someone else who had exactly the same thing happen!

The new discovery looks like a box on wheels, and is a poor imitation of a range rover. Sell the kids and buy a porsche with the proceeds
