... you know you love them

Anyway, it struck me today that the new carpark for Centrale in Croydon has a better approach to them. There are red P&C spaces scattered randomly around the carpark rather than in any one prime position. I think they've shoved them wherever the layout of the carpark meant there was space for a wider spot. It means they are not so attractive to lazy gits although it does make them a little more difficult to find.

just so everyone knows.... I'm staying out of this one.

Freckle · 11/02/2007 16:42

I think they should abandon P&C spaces in favour of People Carrier spaces, so that when the kids fling the door open to get out, they don't knock a flaming great dent in the next car.......

I must come out in support of people carriers!

Our Toyota Previa has only one door in the back and it's a slider.

Cod, to open the car doors to get a baby in a carseat without damaging anything. It's got f-all to do with walking or not. This carpark has it right - the spaces aren't near the doors at all, they're all over the place and are aout a foot wider than the ordinary spaces. It's ample. Anyway, I'm not arguing for or against themm, jsut saying that this carpark's approach is far better than the stick-them-together-outside-the-door one adopted my most other places.

It was actually easy to get BabyDragon in and out when she was in her rear facing seat, it's next to impossible to do it with the door only slightly open with the forward facing one. Without smacking her head on the door fram anyway (which I've done mor times than is possbly good for her)

I find internet shopping prevents babies heads from being banged on car doors - mostly .

SoupDragon · 11/02/2007 18:14

Ah... but she sits under the computer desk and then tries to stand up.

As I said - mostly....

I've always thought they should put the spaces anywhere, ie not just right at the front of the stores. As you say we don't need them to save our poor little legs just so we can open the doors fully. Doesn't matter where they are in the car park, just matters that people without children learn to appreciate that they are needed by paretns with young children(IMO).

I think parking should be banned.
All shopping should be done on a home delivery or drive-through basis.
No one whould be allowed to open a door or get out of the car within supermarket grounds - even the staff, who would have to be jettisoned in from a sophisticated mechanical device.

VioletBaudelaire · 11/02/2007 18:31

and 'whould' is a proper word.
In my land of no parking.

fryalot · 11/02/2007 18:32

On a p & t thread - I will agree with anything that you say. whould is a perfectly good word.
