mpv query - anyone drive a toyota lucida?

dh and I need to buy an mpv as baby no 4 is on its way, and I've seen the lucida when out and about and it looks a like a good size car, but not too massive (otherwise I'll just prong it...) Does anyone drive one and can tell me if it's any good?

Is the Lucida the same as the Previa but just a different name???

If so, there are a few Previa drivers on here, CD and RockingRosebud both have them and I think a couple of others too.

Have just googled it and it seems to be a direct import from Japan (they are RHD too, aren't they?)

Lucidas are imported Previas. I would get a Previa instead, we looked into the Lucida and it is sometimes hard to prove the mileage when it arrives. All a bit complicated. Plus they are kitted out for the japanese market and all seem to have hideous coloured dashboards and seat covers!

Our Previa is brilliant. Drives like a car not a van. Loads of room. It's 10 years old and cost me £50 to get through the MOT including the cost of the test! Maybe we have just got lucky, though I am a strong believer in japanese cars as they are on the whole v reliable.

Another Previa driver here! Absolutely love mine - totally reliable - takes me, DH and 3 kids, various suitcases over to France and back without any problems every year TOUCH WOOD (saying this now as we're off again in 7 weeks!).

Big boot space (a lot bigger than most MPVs) and interior is very roomy - adults can comfortably sit in the back with leg room.

Definately will get another Toyota in the future.

Thank you. Do you find Slinky and CountessDracula that they are economical to run? I've been totally confused about the different toyota models, because they all seem to be called something really similar.

Janh - thank you very much for that link, it's exactly the sort of thing I've been looking for and failed entirely to find under my own steam!

I think ours does about 25 to 30 mpg - if you get a diesel they do 39.2 according to the website. The specs etc are here under new cars/Previa/Techical specs, you can compare the various models

Thanks countessdracula. Somehow I seem to have ended up doing all the research for this, rather than dh, although feel (probably unreasonably) that he should be doing it on account of his being male...

lilymum I think you should pretend to be annoyed at having to do it, but secretly you should be pleased because you will end up with what you want
