why

OP posts:
southeastastra · 09/02/2007 21:34

because they're animals

Rhubarb · 09/02/2007 21:34

Because they kill and maime children.

Because what would you want otherwise, a doggie prison?

Troll!

lulumama · 09/02/2007 21:36

snooort at doggie prison

nodeathfordogs · 09/02/2007 21:36

and murderers aren't animals?

OP posts:
Kbear · 09/02/2007 21:36

give me a break

northerner · 09/02/2007 21:37

If a dog bites a child, they get put down because next time they might kill.

If a man rapes a child, he get's put in jail but may come out in a few years, and may kill.

I think we should treat peados/rapists etc just like dogs actually.

morningpaper · 09/02/2007 21:37

That's nothing

I regularly kill pigs to make delicious sandwiches

WigWamBam · 09/02/2007 21:37

I was going to reply but to be quite honest, I can't be arsed to feed the deranged troll.

nodeathfordogs · 09/02/2007 21:38

and no i don't want a fight. i actually think that a dog that bites should be put down, but why not a murderer then.

OP posts:
Rhubarb · 09/02/2007 21:39

dearie

there are people and there are animals.

We call murderers animals as a figure of speech which reflects rather harshly on the animal at times.

We don't kill people because they are generally considered to be different to animals.

Whereas dogs that kill, what are you going to do with them? Retrain them to be nice obedient dogs? Put them in a psychiatric ward for dogs?

I find your question very bizarre and ill educated.

I can only assume you are a troll out to rake up a bit of controversy.

expatinscotland · 09/02/2007 21:40

fucking hell, and here I thought the full moon was passed.

northerner · 09/02/2007 21:41

I think she is trying to make a point here actually.

When a dog attacks, but does not kill, we exercise caution (rightly so) and put it down, because we understand, the next attaxk could be fatal.

I think she is wondering why do we not exercise the same caution with people?

Rhubarb · 09/02/2007 21:41

They are out for blood if you excuse the pun.

Playing devils advocate for the hell of it.

Rhubarb · 09/02/2007 21:42

No Northerner, don't try to credit her/him with intelligence like that.

She/he wants to know why people aren't put down like dogs when they kill.

Why doesn't she/he live in America where they are?

expatinscotland · 09/02/2007 21:43

Not all states have the death penalty in the US.

Rhubarb · 09/02/2007 21:46

This is probably one of those animal fanatics who's going to try and track me down now so they can post a letter bomb through my door!

expatinscotland · 09/02/2007 21:49

I wouldn't doubt it, Rhu.

There are a lot of nutters coming out of the woodwork.

Rhubarb · 09/02/2007 21:50

Oh well just to make it easier for them, I live in London, place called Downing Street, my dh is quite big in the city!

Hulababy · 09/02/2007 21:55

Think it is obvious. We put murderers, etc in prison and try to rehabilitate in some way. No such thing available for dogs, so we can't. Rather than having them isolated and in intensive retraining, we do the kinde rthing and pout them down in a humane manner.

Rhubarb · 09/02/2007 22:27

They start a thread, they get a few responses and then they leave!

I may need this thread as evidence if the animal libbers turn up on my doorstep!

handlemecarefully · 09/02/2007 22:30

I don't think he or she did anything really pernicious by just posing this question though, huh?

berrycherry · 09/02/2007 22:33

have not read all of this thread - love dogs but the only answer is THEY ARE DOGS

mytwopenceworth · 09/02/2007 22:36

most people like to believe that human beings, no matter how deranged, have the potential to be rehabilitated. to be helped and, more to the point, to be able to understand the horror of what they have done and to want to change.

there are very few people who think that a mutt can rip the face off a baby, do their time, have some counselling and become a guide dog.

NadineBaggott · 09/02/2007 22:37

great answer mtpw

handlemecarefully · 09/02/2007 22:37

lol mytwo....I know it's a serious point but I love your turn of phrase there.
