Recently Ive been really forgetfull.

Take today for instance; I went shopping and forgot to close the window of the car! I locked it and everything but forgot to close the window!

I wandered out of a shop with a jumper i was intending to buy! I didnt realise until i was paying for something in another shop. The sales lady was really nice and understanding when i went back but I'm really concerned...this isn't normally like me. Does anyone have any advice or ideas? It's beginning to freak me out!

Lack of sleep, hormones, too much to do and not enough time to do it in - I know what it's like, believe me you have nothing to worry about! I spent 10 minutes looking for car keys outside shop juggling DS(13 months) 6 shopping bags and a stupid handbag whilst making sure that DD (5) didn't wander off with stranger or stray into path of car, only to find the b**y things were in my hand!! How stupid is that!!? (very!!)

I've found my car unlocked several times recently. I've put biscuits in the fridge not the cupboard. I can't even think of all the other things. I think we're all just growing busier and older. No help but you're not the only one!

I very recently left my sunroof open in the car, with my handbag in. My boss repeats things for me to do 3 times and I don't remember his instruction....YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!

I am not a forgetful person AT ALL
The only time I get forgetful like you describe, is When. I. Am. Pregnant.

I have been very forgetful during the last months, and I was very worried, now I can't even remember what I worried about. It could be anything that Poppyseed mentions.

I've twice left the keys to my car in the door overnight!!!
Also did it in Sainsburys once and when i went to see if they'd been handed in she said,"didn't you hear us calling it for the past half hour?"......EEEERRRRR.... no!!!

(Also lost two hundred ounds i'd drawn out at Christmas....found it a few months later in a C.D case!!)

I think it comes with motherhood!!+

meandthomas · 13/06/2004 10:54

Lisa 78, there is no way I can be pregnant!!!
Unless the immaculate conception
It's good to know I'm not alone, it's very disconcerting though......
Mn to the rescue as usual!
Thanks everyone

I can remember one AWFUL morning when dd's were younger and I still had the double buggy. Put dd's into car seats and the buggy in the boot and ... lo and behold ... I'd lost the car keys. DH was miles away in some godforsaken place so it was no good ringing him. For a whole wretched half hour I wondered what I should do, dds crying in the car on that hot, sunny day. Contemplated calling AA, police, etc.

Then I closed the boot, and the keys were in it.

Totally normal. Happens to us all. Even the most type-A and organized of my friends become muddle-headed with pregnancy, childbirth & motherhood. (I confess I enjoy watching those "perfect" people struggling like the rest of us.)

For improving memory you can take gingko bilboa. I recommended it to a friend of mine, as I read about it somewhere and she said she really notice the difference. It is supposed to increas blood flow to the brain and in Asia countries they take it to combat the effects of ageing. I'm not expert though so don't know if it is OK to take while pregnant or breastfeeding or anthing.
