For a 60th birthday present looking for an item of memorobilia from each decade of her life. Budget of about £30-£40 total. So 2 questions.

  1. What objects/styles/fads... would you say are classically from each of the decades?
  2. If spots anything online e.g. ebay I would be very greatful. DP has just sprung this on me and I have 101 other things to do

Late 1940's/1950's
1960's
1970's
1980's
1990's
2000's

rubiks cube for the 80's
something mary quant for the 60's?
elvis for the 50's?
for the 40's... described as a perfect present for a 60 year old
T Rex CD from the 70's

can't think of a 90's!

Shit - missed the milk tin.

I'm struggling with the 90's too - boring wasn't it?

TRrying to think more along the lines of something ornamental/jewellery rather than music if I can. Like the eye shadow & rubiks idea thought.

How about looking for a commemorative newspaper from the day she was born?
or something likethis? only a fiver...

I got a bit sidetracked and ended up looking at those magic eye pictures that were popular in the 90's - I brought a huge poster back from the US with the statue of liberty hidden in it.

I now have a massive headache from doing the one's I found on Google, fun hey?

magic eye..... I remember. I have a whole bunch of postcards somewhere - now I wonder which box in the loft they would be in.

She doesn't drink tea...

...have been scouring ebay. I have seen some commemorative coins from 1947 - I think we might just go with them and then get another 'nice' present.
