Dear fellow mumsneters!

I've never posted anything before but I am DESPERATE and need to quiz you ladies for ANY ideas that may help!!! I'm due to get married in a few weeks and my head...or more specifically scalp has decided NOW is the time to go mental! Out of nowhere I have an itchy scalp covered in red patches and I've no idea what to do. It has been with me now for 3 weeks and hasn't responded to anything. I'm now taking antihistamines and ibruprofen regularly to calm it down. I've tried T-Gel shampoo and nothing is helping. I went to the GP who was rubbish and prescribed me a medicated shampoo which again so far is changing nothing. I been checked for various bugs and there's no viable critters in there. Has ANYONE suffered something similar?

I've got a month for this to sort itself out! And in that month I have hair trials and highlights booked. I'm miserable!!! FFS I've NEVER had anything like this before!!!! And it choses NOW to rock up!

I just want to hear that someone has some secret remedy that they can suggest that will send it packing.

Anyone any ideas?

Second bodyshop ginger shampoo - get dandruff and pick scalp when anxious - it cures it really well.

My scalp is a bastard.

I have used paraben and sls free shampoos for many years - still suffer with dry/itchy/lumpy/sore/flaky scalp at varying intervals. Currently quite bad. Since I switched to "clean" shampoos I absolutely cannot use sulphate loaded high street shampoo any more.

I find coconut oil massively reduces the itching/flaking. I use it a few times a week overnight. If I stop using it the irritation returns quickly.

It's been worse since I stopped taking the pill - I assume this is because my skin way oilier now. Sigh...

I found one shampoo treatment that actually worked and it has been discontinued SadAngry.

JASON dandruff treatment shampoo doesn't work for me. Neither does TGel. I've added tea tree oil to my current shampoo and that hasn't helped.

I'm currently waiting for some DermaSukin stuff to arrive in the post. I live in hope of a cure. It's quite depressing.

I second Body Shop ginger shampoo. Nothing short of miraculous.

The Loreal one a pp recommended will sort you out!

Suggest you come up with a Plan B in case you can't get the planned highlights (though obv hope that one of the shampoos on here helps and you get cleared up in plenty of time for the Big Day)

I endorse the PPs recommending L'Oreal Mens anti-dandruff.
DS had been through a 6 year nightmare of doctors poking about, Nizoral, T-gel, steroids.
In desperation over a year ago I turned to MN and got the heads up on L'Oreal.
Three days later - gone, proper clear shiny hair and spotless scalp. And it's never returned. He uses it x2 a week now. It's like he had a head transplant,

Have you tried using coconut oil to soothe your scalp? Rub it in and leave over night then wash off using shampoo then water in the shower.

TheGreatDessert Giovanni is a lovely brand for SLS free shampoos and conditioners. They have a tea tree oil range which is really soothing for scalps.
