Tiling the kitchen floor - how much?

I am having my kitchen done and want the floor tiled over with ceramic or porcelain/similar tiles. Does anyone know how much it costs about per square metre for labour to have it done? We have already got the tiles.

Thanks

Thats so wierd - because I've got a similiar thread floating about as well!

We had a quote today from a tiler at £25 a sq metre, it would work out at £400.

I was gobsmacked actually, so looking for some more quotes too.

Can I be cheeky and ask how much it cost to fit your kitchen? We've ordered ours and now looking for a fitter as well as a tiler. [que, sound of pennies clinking down the drain!)

Hi PP

I haven't had a quote for fitting it yet, but I have just had it extended so it is big now, I have bought 21 units for it and it is 30 sq metres so at about £25 per sqm just for the floor, I'm not going to be able to have it fitted unless I sell my children! I forgot to take into account when having this extension done that I would have to kit it out including lighting and tiles and units, my old kitchen only had three floor cupboards and two wall cupboards. I think we will be still fitting these at Easter........

We paid £400 for our kitchen to have the stuff like lino but a lot nicer and thicker. That was about 4 yrs ago.

Everything is so expensive - it seems to cost £200 a day for labour who ever comes to the house - labourer plumber or electrician! My husband has what I think is a good job, but can't even come close to £1000 a week. Even factoring in running a van and equipment, I think I need to re train as a lady tradesperson

NAB3 - was that price just to fit it, or did it include the flooring as well?

I know what you mean about the costs just mounting up, and up, and up

We've bought the kitchen, and wall tiles and appliances. But now need to arrange a fitter, and I have a horrible feeling it's going to cost as much as, if not more, than the kitchen in the first place .

Didn't really account for that when ordering the units.

PP we paid about £1700 for our kitchen from B & Q excluding appliances and we have been told it would be over £1000 to fit it, although I haven't actually got a quote. Like you I didn't factor this in when buying it although everyone I talk to thinks this is cheap as they think a new kitchen could cost up to £10 - 15,000 - I had my upstairs extended for that! No way I'm spending it on a kitchen

It was for the product and to have it fitted though we had to take up the old stuff, and if we hadn't they wouldn't have done it!!

Aside from the money, we're struggling finding a fitter!
