OMG!! you wont believe what i saw today!

I was absolutely shocked horrified words can not explain. I was walking through my town centre admittedly its a bit rough and chavvy round here but i then saw this woman not a young girl she had to be in her 30's carrying a baby of about 1 in one arm and smoking a fag with the other hand. As if that wasnt bad enough she then thought it would be a good idea to put the cigarette in the babies mouth to make it look like the baby was smoking! her and her friends were laughing as she did this!!

what goes through some peoples minds is beyond me.

my mum once saw a young mum with a small toddler, maybe 18 months old and she was screaming at him whilst pushing the buggy, and she leaned forwards and repeatedly punched him in the head!!!

if i was there i wouldve lamped her,

if she does that in the street what the hell is she doing to him at home??

But why won't any of us actually stop this child abuse? (Not criticising cos I am not sure what I would have done myself).

Is the problem that disciplining your child using physical means is still legal (and smoking certainly is) so its a grey area? Or that we are scared of being attacked ourselves if we confront (v legitimate espesh now I have a little one to think about too)? Or is it that nothing will happen if we do call police?

Personally I am not sure why smoking around kids ISN'T illegal. Its so damaging. Even most smoking parents don't smoke aroumd their kids.

I know quite a few Mums that smoke around their kids they don't think anything is wrong with it. A friend is pregnant just now and smokes yet she doesn't smoke indoors around her kids.

i'm not sure what i would do mummymagic, if i actually saw somebody punching their kid i probably would confront unless i was with my ds (having said that i would asess situation carefully) and/or call the police.
