If I need 324 cubic feet of top soil - how many tonnes do I order??

It took me an hour to work out I need 324 cubic feet only to find out I need it in tonnes

Go into www.ask.com and type in 'what is 324 cubic fee in tonnes' and the answer should appear at the top of the next page.

i see what you mean. i make gardening decisions like that all the time.

it may take some lateral thinking and chutzpah but why not try phoning some building sites. they have to pay demolition companies to take the stuff off away so would happily give you some. eg, dh is working on a road job and they had to strip god knows how much of the stuff. maybe drive around and look at the signs, take a number and call them. i look at this sort of thing as 'making' money because i stand the chance of saving money i would have otherwise spent.
