Hi
can anybody please tell me where I might hire or buy some plastic coverings to protect carpet for parties etc?

DS's birthday party is looming and I'm not convinced that the weather will be perfect. Lounge carpet less than 6 months old so I thought I'd a least try and protect it a bit.

thanks all

some friends of mine had an under the sea party and got some blue thick plastic from B&Q I think

DIY places would probably be the best bet, cheapest place I would say. You would have to make sure it wasn't slippy on top of your carpet though or bunched up, especially if you have kids running around.

I bought one of those sheets when we were decorating - it was lethally slippy over carpet, really wouldn't recommend it for a kids' party - I nearly broke my neck a couple of times.

When I havd had kids' parties I have had them eat on a picnic blanket on the floor - have you enough blankets, picnic blankets to spread out over the whole floor? I think Woolies have half-price picnic rugs at the moment.

I use a plastic novelty 'Nemo' table cloth (coupla quid ) for papier mache at home on the carpet. Cheap and bright!
(Does that read correctly?! We obviously papier mache ballons and stuff rather than the carpet )
