cake delivery company? Any ideas

Want to send a box of cakes or muffins or somethings as a gift for new mum. Any ideas. They live in Dorset, but I expect there should be some nationwide companies. Have looked at Sara something or other cakes but they look quite expensive.

I think Betty's delivers.

I don't know how expensive it is though.

Jimjams2 · 14/01/2007 16:42

For something different \link{cakeless cakes\cakeless cakes}, they've delivered to me a number of times (and I'm 300 miles away from them).

Jimjams2 · 14/01/2007 16:43

try again

Plibble · 14/01/2007 16:45

For Goodness Cake looks amazing. I can't wait to have an excuse to send some to someone (or maybe I shall just send some to me...!)

deaconblue · 14/01/2007 16:51

ooh Plibble, such pretty cup cakes. She's had a girl, I could send the pretty pink ones.

Bought them, how exciting. Now I just need to get up the duff again so I can have some too.

Tommy · 14/01/2007 17:47

these are quite fun - I have used them a few times.

I saw an advert for another company in a paper last week which looked gorgeous as weel - I'll try and remember the name

Plibble · 14/01/2007 17:49

Let us know if she likes them (although, seriously, what new mother does not love cake???).

Twiglett · 14/01/2007 17:56

'kin 'ell do people really spend £28 for a dozen fairy cakes .. you do know you can buy those little flowers pre-made .. you can even buy the cakes pre-made .. and stick 'em in a nice tin

Twiglett · 14/01/2007 17:56

apologies I seem to have just had an attack of my mother

MrsBadger · 14/01/2007 17:57

and pack 'em in a jiffy bag and drag 'em to the post office and queue for the stroppy lady and spend £7 posting them...

it's the time/money balance again...

Twiglett · 14/01/2007 18:03

Bollocks .. you stick them in a pretty tin and get parcelforce to pick 'em up for a fiver

that isn't my mother .. that's pure twig

100PerCentCod · 15/01/2007 11:27

beverly hills those are the ones

deaconblue · 15/01/2007 13:32

coddy sent me some post birth though and it is such a treat. Plus if you look at my cup cake thread from the other day you'll see that mine don't turn out that well. She is very close friend and it'll be a couple of weeks before I can get down there and take a different pressie.

Meg Rivers is fab.

The tray bakes are great, especially the Brownies, so I'm told.

mamama · 15/01/2007 20:07

Oops, just read the whole thread and realised you have bought something already! Oh well...

paulaplumpbottom · 15/01/2007 21:11

Someone bought me How to be a Domestic Goddess and the recipes aren't great. Go to goodhousekeeping if you want foolproof recipes.

Tommy · 15/01/2007 21:25

mamama -that was the company I was trying to remember!
Thank you - I spent ages racking my brains yesterday tring to think of it - they look gorgeous don't they?

deaconblue · 15/01/2007 22:11

They do look good too. Thank you everyone for suggestions. Must save these somewhere for when next friend has baby
