He's tall for his age. Does he need 3/4 or full do you think?

You might want to look at full-size guitars with smaller bodies - that way he gets to learn on a full-size neck but doesn't have a massive bulky body to lean over. 3/4 size means that the whole guitar (including the neck) is smaller. Is it electric or acoustic?

acoustic. He is 11 and wants to start learning it. Do you think he should start with acoustic?

my sons 10 and has a 3/4 one but will get him a full size one for his birthday in June

also has a 3/4 electric guitar which we got him at christmas as the full size electric are far to heavy

start him off on an acoutic then maybe next christmas get him an electric if he is still intrested

our local music shop does fitting - very useful - dd is a tall 7.5 yr old and I was going to get her a 3/4 one online, but she turned out to need a 1/2 sized guitar, so it's probably worth getting it checked.

Get an adult one , he will have grown out of the three quarters on in a year or less anyway.

DMO has got a good point about the electric one . He will almost certainly want to upgrade to that as soon as he can play a bit.
