I used to love playing two balls against the wall. I can remember being at school and there being a long line of about 30 girls playing two balls against the sports hall wall, what fun!
Today I was showing a couple of little girls who live in my building how to play and they were amazed, they loved it! I was trying to remember some of the songs and rhymes that went with it. The one I can remember go's like this....Plainy Walls ice cream, over Walls ice cream, uppsy Walls ice cream and so on. I am sure these games are regional (maybe not).I am from Merseyside. Does anyone remember any other songs to play two balls to. I felt a bit sad today that this dear old game seems to have died out. Lol, all the Mum's came out and to the suprise of the kids, they could all play two balls!

Oh, I just realized French Elastic is Gummitwist. You needed to raid your mothers workbasket for elastic band. There were 7 levels, and you either followed or invented. I was quite good at it, though Ines from next door was better. Smile 45 years ago.

Just seen this first message 2002 last one before this 2 weeks ago 2019 wow just shows how we all long for the children to go out and play the way we used to. I'm from Glasgow we just called it playing balls. The one I remember is
Away up in Scotland, the land of the Scots, there is a wee lassie who loved porridge oats. Her name is Susanna and where is she now she's up in the highlands a milk in a cow. The hardest part was onesy when you were only allowed to use one hand to play.

I was searching for this topic and came across this thread. I grew up in Dublin and learned this game from my friend's mum. We played for hours and hours when we were 11 or 12. Here are the songs I remember:
Where you goin' Bob, Down the lane, Bob, For what, Bob? For Rhubob? Can I come, Bob? No, Bob. Why, Bob? Because you don't like Rhubob.

Alice in wonderland, Alice in wonderland, Oh, Alice, Pretty, Alice, Alice in Wonderland.

The Dashy woman, the right-legged man, the left-legged . . . . the archie pan. So you take the .... and I take the pan said the dashy woman to the right legged man. (missing some parts . . . )

Over in Holland the land of the Dutch, there lives a fine lassy, I love her so much. Her name is Susannah and where is she now? Up in the highlands, milking a cow. Singing, "Oh, dear, what can the matter be, seven fat ladies got stuck in the lavat'ry. They were there from Monday to Saturday, . . . . . Dont remember the rest

Anyone else sing those songs? On the key word (Bob, Alice, etc.) you did the different actions (like throw the ball up or overhand or let it bounce. Then you did the whole song overhanded etc. Make sense?

Hi. The game with elastic bands all joined together we called Dutch skipping. 2 people would stand either end of the stretched elastics(Or LAZZYS as us Scousers called them!😂😂) We'd stand astride to start and then looping 1 side with our nearest foot and move it across the other rapidly several times in time with the appropriate song/rhyme. We'd end up with both feet in the middle with the lazzys crossed at the back and front of our feet then we had to jump out finishing with our feet,1 on either side!! I was good at skipping but not Dutch skipping. Hope this helps!!

We used to simply call it elastic. The hardest level was necksies, where the elastic was around the necks of the two girls at either end. Madness.

Forgot what came next but did do the Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, next door neighbour carry on.
Did throw overs and under leg.
Did anyone use the bars by the bike stores at school to sit on, lean back and turn over. Used to do it facing front too which was scary but exciting.
