cc = ml

so 20 cc is 20 ml not 200

cc = cubic centimetre
ml = millilitre

lemonaid · 11/01/2007 11:17

20 cl = 200 ml

but

20 cc = 20 ml

as SaintGeorge says

throckenholt · 11/01/2007 11:26

a ml is the same volume as a cc (for water based things at least)

so 20cc is 20ml

speedymama · 11/01/2007 11:49

I'm a chemist and when I worked in the lab, we interchanged 20cc with 20ml when measuring out liquids so yes, they are the same.

sunnywong · 11/01/2007 12:35

but why? isn't centi indicating a hundreth of a litre and milli indicatin a thousandeth? I dont' get it???????

and as for YL, writted, by eck lass sort theself out

OP posts:
throckenholt · 11/01/2007 12:42

cc is cubic centimeter (cl is centilitre)

ml is millilitre

so cc and ml are actually different ways of measuring it - one is using a linear measurement to get the volume, the other is volumetric - does that make any sense at all ?

sunnywong · 11/01/2007 12:46

it really isn't that simple is it?
so anyone care to place hard cash on the definitive answer?

OP posts:
sunnywong · 11/01/2007 12:47

oh yes, throck, I just read your post properly now
I get the dimension thing, but are they the same?????

beckybrastraps · 11/01/2007 12:48

1cc is definitely 1ml. For sure.

sunnywong · 11/01/2007 12:49

thanks

I have to go and scrape the egg off my face now

feck

throckenholt · 11/01/2007 12:51

yep !

cc is the volume created by a block of water 1cm by 1cm by 1cm

a ml is the same volume - and is 1/1000 of a litre - a cl (centilitre) is 1/100 of a litre

so if my maths is right a litre must be 1000cc which is 10cmx10cmx10cm.

Eg cars are either 2000cc or 2l engines - same size.

throckenholt · 11/01/2007 12:52

sorry about the egg

Pablothelittleredfox · 11/01/2007 12:53

No 200cc is 200ml

sunnywong · 11/01/2007 12:53

well actually it's a good thing that I know
now MIL doesn't hav to drink 200ml each of grape and celery juice twice a day to counteract her high blood pressure.
I will put her right on this.
I may moan about her but I love her really

OP posts:
throckenholt · 11/01/2007 12:57

200ml isn't that much - a bit less than a mugful.

sunnywong · 11/01/2007 12:59

but that's 400ml a pop
and chinese old ladies ain't too fond of juice

fermented bean curd or creamcakes, now you're talking

OP posts:
throckenholt · 11/01/2007 13:00

oops - I meant cc as the same as ml, 20cc is not the same as 200ml, it is 20ml.

sunnywong · 11/01/2007 13:02

you're just fucking with my head now

please stop

OP posts:
tamum · 11/01/2007 13:02

Definitely the same thing.

tamum · 11/01/2007 13:03

Sorry, I meant cc the same as ml, not 20 cc the same as 200 ml

beckybrastraps · 11/01/2007 13:04

tamum!

I was poised with a there...

throckenholt · 11/01/2007 13:05

so about a mugful of each a day - sounds about right ot make any difference (given they are mostly water anyway).

fermented bean curd or creamcakes, now you're talking
