I have had enough of trying to be thin. Or even a bit thinner. I'm not massive but I am bigger than I should be. Its just too hard to lose weight. And I'm getting older - 41. And DH doesn't give a damn (God love him) Who has accepted their bodies, embraced their chubster self and stuck two fingers up at the world of thin? Come on women give some support to my fatty selfSmileWink

Can you afford some kettlebells? I found a great exercise circuit that you could easily do at home, if you add in a little walking or jogging outside. It's pretty much closed the gap in my abs and really improved my strength and tone.

Yes I could get some kettlebells, thanks for the suggestion, can you give me tips on how to use? Smile

Yes!

This is a good workout for beginners: www.fitnessmagazine.com/workout/arms/express/kettlebell-workout/

I love this workout, but it's tough if you're a beginner:
greatist.com/move/full-body-kettlebell-workout

And here's some other suggestions:

greatist.com/fitness/22-kick-ass-kettlebell-exercises

What you should aim for is to do about 6 different exercises for 3 sets of 10 (comes to about 25-30 minutes) 3 times a week, and try and walk or jog once or twice a week as well (again, for about half an hour/40 minutes).

Those swings, goblet squats and cleans are amazing for your core, and will really help. :) You'll also notice a difference in your arms and thighs.

I've done a lot of other weightlifting but it just doesn't compare (and if I don't have access to kettlebells I do these exercises with dumbells! ).

I've had an email from MNHQ and they asked me to choose a topic for the thread to be moved to. I went for Other Stuff - Other Topics, a bit boring but we don't seem to fit any other category! And have asked for it to be renamed Cake Watchers as a tongue in cheek title! We'll see what happens!

I would absolutely relax into being a stone or two overweight if it wasn't for my fucking chins.

Loads of weight settles round my jawline and under my chin and imo it's the least attractive place to carry weight.

Hence why I'm embarking on a diet tomorrow chinese for tea tonight

I could cry 😟

Have just read the thread and hoping I'm not too late to the party?! I'm 5'4" and at the heaviest I've ever been. I'm currently 20weeks pregnant but when I was weighed at 8 weeks I was 11st. My weight was always a solid 9.5st (from ages 18-27) but since having DS 5 years ago it's crept up to 10.5 and more recently a bit more. I'm a size 12 but feel most comfortable at a 10 and would love to get down to that but I don't have the willpower or patience for diets. DH and I have recently started heathy eating after years of junk food and takeaways. DH is being extremely disciplined and has cut out all sugar/bread/crap. I'm a great believer in a little bit of what you fancy does you good, so I am trying to apply the reasonableness test as mentioned by mothering up thread! It worked for my grandma who lived to the age of 97 with never a day in hospital other than to have children. Obviously I'm off the wine at the moment but am trying to limit the cake to what is reasonable. I don't do any exercise at all but am trying to walk a bit more for now and hoping that once the baby is here and I've recovered a bit, I might have the motivation to go to Zumba or something!

Don't judge your weight when pregnant! With DS the doctor was getting mad at me for gaining over 14 kilos. He was born at 34 weeks weighing 6 kilos and 10 days later I was lighter then before I had him. I told my doctor not to underestimate how much water my body is capable of retaining when it really wants to.

Yes please to positive articles, we're all about positivity on Cake Watchers!
So what body shape are you lovely ladies and what sort of clothes suit you best? I am a pear shape with most of my weight on my thighs, however i do also have a bit of a tummy shelf following a c section. I used to live in bootcut jeans when not at work but have recently been brave and experimented with straight leg jeans, its hard to find the right cut to fit my thunder thighs, i have found matalan £10 jeans fit me well! And my purse isnt complaining either! Also I am getting braver with shorter length tops, allowing the thighs to be on show a bit! I can't change my bodyshape and I am sick of hiding away under long baggy tops, although I will still revert to them if I am having an insecure day.

I'm an hourglass. Wide hips and shoulders and mostly carry my weight in my arms and thighs. It was ok till I had kids and then that messed my stomach up to so I just looked big all over. But my stomach is getting better and I don't look 6 months pregnant as much, so I'm feeling much better. Although it does suck that I have to buy a couple of pants sizes too big, and a shirt size to big to accommodate my arms and thighs.

Skinny jeans are the devil btw

Oh god yes skinny jeans are going nowhere near my legs! Same for jeggings, bad bad clothing item. Leggings also do not get a look in. And so many of them in the shops, so hard to find a normal pair of jeans!
