I have had enough of trying to be thin. Or even a bit thinner. I'm not massive but I am bigger than I should be. Its just too hard to lose weight. And I'm getting older - 41. And DH doesn't give a damn (God love him) Who has accepted their bodies, embraced their chubster self and stuck two fingers up at the world of thin? Come on women give some support to my fatty selfSmileWink

I'm technically morbidly obese. I don't have the motivation to lose weight. I'm genuinely happy with who I am. I'm loved. My health is fine and any issues I have are not weight related.
I can't be arsed to be bothered about my weight. I work full time and am active with my own children.
I refuse to be miserable about myself. I'm a great person. Fat is just a description that ignorant people use for me. I'm much more than FAT

I think sometimes we are our own harshest critics. I will look at photos and think 'well I don't look too bad in that photo, I actually think I look much bugger than that' and DH will point out that the real me is in the photo! I have a rubbish relationship with food and I am trying hard to sort that out, to find a happy medium between starving myself and stuffing my face, and I think acceptance is key to that.
Rambling a bit now!
Yay we made a club!

I really needed to read this thread. I'm a size 10 and only 7lbs more than I was in my mid 20s (now 37) but I constantly berate myself for it and worry every time I pass a mirror that I am too big. Maybe I've got a bit of body dysmorphia, I don't know. But I certainly can't live with eating like a rabbit for the rest of my life to lose those few lbs. I love cheese and pasta and chocolate but beat myself up every time I eat some. God it's so exhausting.

I veer wildly between self acceptance and sheer panic at the fact that I can put on half a stone in a fortnight if I take my eye off the ball. It's all so unfair Sad

Every time I think about dieting (or read a bloody fat-hating thread) I binge-eat. I'm an ex-anorexic: long time ago, but the Evil Skinny Elf stays in your brain.

Every time I don't think about dieting, just get on with being me, and eat the mountains of 'proper' food to which I'm accustomed - nothing happens. I don't gain, I don't lose, I just live! Much better ime, and fuck the ridiculous belly. I have lycra!

I believe that about the wrinkles, too. I look pretty ravaged to myself, but in all honesty those of my school classmates who are slim have a lot more lines.

I don't give a nun's chuff about it. I'm 46, 5'5" and 11st6.5lbs. When I stopped caring, food became fuel and I ate when I was hungry. It's also helped that I've lost 16st of husband. Grin. It's weird though, as through not caring, I've actually lost 1st7lbs. I do think I'm more mindful about food now though, rather than just troughing because it's there. Diets are shit, they just make you feel guilty if you eat a bar of chocolate. Enjoy the chocolate and move on!

I don't want to be obsessive. I've seen friends who were morbidly obese lose so much - 8 stone on low carb, 12 stone on slimming world etc.

I will admit the slimming world ones seem most relaxed of the lot though.

One friend who lost with low carb is unhealthily obsessed now. It's almost bordering on a disorder the amount they exercise and restrict their carbs.

I'm with you. I'm a 14 ish and maintain my weight with 5 2 and walking at least 10k every day. I don't eat cap all the time and am often mistaken as being half my age. Dh loves me to bits and I'm always being complimented for my skin hair and freckles. I'm also intelligent and kind and funny. It's taken me years to stop punishing myself and hating myself. Every couple of months I drop a pound but if I don't that's fine too. Food is not an issue in our house any longer. I'm not young anymore and I'm grateful for my health and happiness (after many years of depression and anxiety).

What annoys me (sorry on a rant now) is my bloody mother and her obsession with weight.

The first thing she says is whether my sister has lost weight, or put on, whether she's put half a stone on she can't shift, how I looked better thinner. Every single conversation goes back to weight in some way.

Though I have issues with her at the moment anyway so my judgment may be clouded!

I like this thread!

Last time I tried to start one like this a load of fat shamers piled in and pops ended up arguing between themselves about how close my BMI is to obese while I crept off the thread to eat a bar of chocolate

You lot are much friendlier Smile

I put on weight after getting my thyroid out, but before that I thought I was a heifer! I look at the photos of me then and I was slim! Now I wear a 12 on the bottom, a 16/18 on top and carry all my weight on my boobs and belly. I'm over 50 - who gives a shit? I should exercise more, but I am on my feet for 8 hour shifts at work and have a very dicky ankle that I am awaiting surgery on. I vote for Cake Watchers! Forget the diet - I only ever managed to stick to one for a very short time and lost not a single pound!

You are all my people! I'm a size 14 and a bit too wobbly in places. Occasionally I think it would be nice to be a size 12 again, but can't be arsed to do anything about it as it's far nicer to eat what you enjoy. Now I'm off to grab some BiscuitBiscuit

it's my issue and i'm always assuming people judge me as eating cake pies and chips non stop.
after years of calorie counting I can tell you my daily intake is always between 1200 and 1500.
i'm well beyond menopause and retired so yes my life is rather sedentary.
coffee cake (no icing) is made often enough but certainly not as a meal.
tonight's supper is Jamie oliver's classic ratatouille.

Oh no Yvaine that's not on! Stupid smug thin people thinking they are clever with all their advice! How dare they argue about your BMI that's so unhelpful.
I once lost 4 1/2 stone on Rosemary Conley (starting point was 14st) never have I been so obsessed with calorie counting! Always felt hungry, and often a bit dizzy too. And That is the only time DH hated how I looked! No boobs, and he's a boob man!
Well I am now on a mission to accept myself, lumps bumps and all the rest.

Me! I'm really active, I generally eat healthy, but I love a few drinks and the odd take out. I'm 7 kg's overweight at the moment and a size 12/14 and I think I look great. DH thinks I'm sex in a bucket. And my GP says I'm healthy.

To lose that 7 kg I'd have to cut out all alcohol and my occasional treats. Not going to happen. Life's too short.

Another op twin here and at the age of 62 I don't give a toss 😀
I'm fit, healthy and able to do whatever I chose, including refusing to be dictated to by fashion gurus. My BMI's ok-ish and at least I'm not at risk of osteoporosis 😊

If I can't be content now then it'll never happen.
