DD2 and DS had a joint birthday party the week before Christmas, they had about 15 - 20 friends each. When they each opened their presents we made a note of who had given what and also the same for Christmas presents.

Now I am faced with thank you letters for all the birthday gifts and Christmas presents for all three children. Only dd1 is old enough to write her own. DD2 - 5 DS - 4.

Here's the question - Would it be acceptable to do a general thank you for the present and coming to my party from DD2 to her friends and the same with ds. Or should I do individual thank you's mentioning the gift.

dd had her party yesterday and I am going to do a general thank you for the gift letter

I'd do a general thank you one.

I actually do a general thank you on the computer, and then get dd (4) and ds (2) to draw a picture on each letter - obviously dd's are slightly better than the scribble ds manages. Dd also now manages to copy the givers name and write her own at the bottom. This way the giver knows that the child has put some effort into it - rather than only the parents.

I love you, all of you, I've got my first ever child free school length day tomorrow and now I'll have some time to do absolutely nothing - whoopie

I would do a general one to start with, and then personalise it onthe back.

Last birthday, when she was 4, I got DD to draw a picture on paper, and write the words "Thank you, from xxx".

I then photocopied these - I reduced the A4 down to A5.

On the reverse I wrote a sentence myself, just saying Thanks for the xxx.

I took a photo of my Ds holding a big sign saying thankyou in coloured letters . I copied it and wrote a small note on the back .

It ended up in a magazine on top tips . LOL

When DD1 was in reception we went up to each mum in the playground and DD1 said "Thank you very much for my book/sweets/etc".

I was really pleased with her as she was very shy at the time.
