Make sure curtain pleats are even.

No rumples (already sort of done) on beds

Bog roll in the correct position.

Limescale removed around bathroom taps.

Remove dead plants.

Wipe window frames down.

These are some random things I thought up

get as much as you can out of your house - really clear it out so it is pretty sparse.
hire storage if you need to, (will make the move easier!)

BettySpaghetti · 07/01/2007 09:34

Clean the windows inside and out.
Make sure the front garden/path or general approach to the house is clear and welcoming (leaves swept away, no dead plants in pots, wash down front door if needed)
Clear any piles of paperwork, letters etc (if you are anything like us you'll have a pile in each room!)

LOL about the cheese and checking nappies! At the ILs over Xmas we had an Epoisse cheese so I can totally relate to that . When we bought it in Tesco the young lad on the checkout even asked us if we wanted to get another one or was it supposed to smell like !

Air the house earlier in the day. Make sure not too hot/cold when they come.

littlemissbossy · 07/01/2007 10:04

Air the house, but also have it warm and welcoming.
Don't bother with the fresh smell of baking bread or coffee - noone falls for that these days.
Houses needs to be spotless, uncluttered, each room should have a proper function IYSWIM - but I'm sure you've done all this already.
Agree with what everyone else has said plus your outside - wash door, window frames to the entrance - potted plant or plants outside door if you haven't got any.

You're in for a busy day - good luck!!

that does make sense drunkensailor, when we sold our last house - it was to a single guy - and with his second viewing my dh was sitting there, with a beer, watching footie.
Definitely sold the house!

Any sort of clutter and pets.

Although I have a dog he is outdoor and I would be put right off a house that had animals living in it.

after watching House Doctor, I made sure my front door was clean (I repainted it in fact - didn't take long), polished door furniture and cleaned window and put some pots with bedding plants on the door step.

My dp has a lot of instruments and when we sold our last house most people loved that and the people who eventually bought it bought the piano too!We have drums and guitars in one of the loft rooms and the estate agents love them!We are about to market ours but it is newly renovated so doesn't need too much doctoring just cleaning and flowers
