How would you go about selling big job lot of Happyland?

I know January isn't the right time, so not thinking of it right now anyway, but curious as to what to do with it. Will probably hang onto it until after the summer, then try and sell it in the run up to Christmas.

We have at least £200+ worth of buildings, tracks, vehicles, animals and people. % big plastic storage boxes worth in fact.

Obviously convenience would be to try and sell as one big job lot, on collection only. But would that work? Or would we be better selling individually? But would postage then be too much of an issue?

I would try your local freeads or gumtree.co.uk first or put a card up at the supermarket. No point dealing with Ebay fees until you've tried the free stuff.

Hulababy · 06/01/2007 10:22

Probably right, yes?

I noticed HL isn't selling for as good a prices at the moment on ebay - post Christmas lull I guess. So probably best to keep hold for now.

I saw someone selling Brio on ebay the other day. The listing was a few pieces of straight track and they had in there that this was part of a brand new larger box they were splitting to sell!!!! They had loads of stuff for sale and had thousands of feedback so I guess their answer would be to split it and offer to combine postage?

mustrunmore · 06/01/2007 10:39

I'd say split it, put post or pick up, and list all at the same time, mentioning that fact in the descriptions. If someone is collecting, they might buy more because they'd be coming to you anyway.

Hulababy · 06/01/2007 10:44

Yes, on ebay I guess splitting and linking them all might be best.

Suppose to cut on postage I could use the ebay deliveries at £3.99/£5.99 too.

Make sure you don't list it now as no-one will be buying....the best time when it picks up is aroung march/april onwards time either that or Nov just in time for xmas.

I would also say to split and make sure you use a good title with all the right keywords in it.

The bits you have left that don't sell lump together and then put them under a buy it now price.

Bozza · 06/01/2007 19:43

hula - just out of interest what do you have? 2yo DD is quite into Happyland and I know that you are in Sheffield which is not too far from me. I might be interested in some bits that DD hasn't got for her birthday in May.

DD has:
thatched cottage
church
bakery/tea rooms
post office
garden set
village accessory set

So anything else.

House
Hospital
Farm
Airport
Market stalls
Vet
Post Office
Beach set
Camping set
Emergency vehicles
Construction vehicles
Intercity train
Extra road and rail sets

All people/animals/vehicles from above sets, plus some extra

Our house and farm is from the previous HappyLand, but not Happy Street - not thatched house for example. And the farm is not the house, but the farm yard with track. the tractor makes different animal noises as it passes the cow shed, pigs sty, etc.

There are one or two bits in there that I would be interested in Hula such as the market stalls. Since DD's birthday is not until May there is no rush - plenty of time for you to square it with DD! DD has just got the pink palace for Christmas and she does play with it with the happyland stuff.

I sold quite a lot on ebay...mostly as separate sets. Some went at nearly cost price...and one went for more than you can buy it new (they were temporarily out of stock in elc just before xmas). They were in perfect condition and i still had all the boxes and it was before xmas though.
I'd wait for a bit if you are going to do ebay...it usually is v. quiet after xmas

Hulababy · 08/01/2007 12:37

Bit busy this week as back to work and school for me and DD. Will have a sort through on Friday and a chat with DD.

I don't have boxes, but all are in really good condition. As new really.
