Can anyone help - dd upset over broken present

A neighbour gave dd (5) a snow globe for christmas and she adored it. Unfortunately it got smashed, and she has been in tears most of the afternoon. I would love to replace it, but our neigbour says she got it in February in, she thinks, Littlewoods which is closed down in our town (and everywhere?) and it is not on littlewoods online.

POsting here on the offchance that anyone has a spare one (long shot I know). It was quite small with a sort of cup inside where the different shapes inside could land - said in leaflet that it is a dream catcher. The base of it is bluey/greeny colour with glitter and small pictures like a dog, heart, slipper etc. The cup in the inside says "I dream of..."

If anyone can help dd will be delighted

Aw, I feel sorry for your DD. I'm 20 years older than her and I still love my snowglobe!

I can only suggest ebay, as has Majorca, otherwise I know TKMaxx had some great ones, and Wilkinsons was very good too!

Let us know how you get on in your search. I'll keep a look out for one.

Thanks . Tried ebay - there were some lovely ones but none the same.

Dd is a bit happier now as our lovely neighbour made another one with a pretty little jar and some sparkly bits

Oh bum..she just came downstairs, sad because she "can't stop thinking about it"

Your neighbour sounds lovely

Wallace · 30/12/2006 20:46

she is lovely - we are the envy of the village living nextdoor to the village babysitter

Mine are lovely too - good neighbours are to be cherished, aren't they? I have lived next door to some stinkers in the past.

I can't find anything on google.

Is there a manufacturers name on the leaflet?

Is there another store similar to Littlewoods in your town that she may have got muddled up with?

I feel like I'm on a mission now and won't rest until one has been found.

Found the leaflet - it says littlewoods stores ltd. It also has an address, would it be worth writing to them?

I phoned the company where my sister had bought my mother an Ainsley Harriott dinner service because she had smashed a plate after 12 months of use. The shop where my sister bought it said they no long sold it but he would help me track down a plate. Within an hour he rang me back saying he had found a part service in their back room that they obviously couldn't sell and did I want it? I jumped on it and to add to the glee, they were delivering to a neighbour of my mothers so dropped the service off to mum too after I paid over the phone! Admittedly this was a local town department store but still, it's worth a try if you have the phone number!

Tiggly · 30/12/2006 21:15

sorry, meant contacting them if you have the address, doh!

Wallace · 30/12/2006 21:31

I will write to them then - might get dd to do it and tug a few heartstrings

Does it have to be the same one, ddd collects snowglobes and she always gets on in the sales in the new year.

Wallace · 30/12/2006 21:40

I think she would like the same one, but she will get over it eventually

It's worth contacting them.

Argos once put me in touch with a supplier of something I wanted that they no longer stocked.
