If you ordered some sofas for garuanteed Christmas delivery, and they never came, what would you do?

I ordered 2 sofas, full price (were in sale next week ) in October for garuanteed Christmas delivery (one of the main reasons I didnt wait for a sale to come along) and they said 6th December to us, then 19th... then on Friday DH rung and they said they deliver Saturdays and Sundays... so we figured it would come then. But it didn't. I rung the store 10am, boxing day and the guy said they were due in 2nd, and head office was closed. What do I do? Apart from tick them off? Im no good at this sort of thing...

Many Thanks!

I would demand a refund and go elsewhere or at least get them at the sale price.

moljam · 27/12/2006 15:39

send them back and buy in sale.complain to managment, might get money off?where were they from?

SherlockLGJ · 27/12/2006 15:40

Refuse delivery.

MerryBiglipsmas · 27/12/2006 15:40

which store was it from if u mind me asking? i defo get a refund

QuootiepieTheChristmasAss · 27/12/2006 15:40

Harveys. I think ill demand them at sale price + money off... I could have just waited a week and got them cheaper and had them the same time!

MerryBiglipsmas · 27/12/2006 15:41

ive never heard off them

i recommend DFS at ANYTIME to ANYONE as they are spot on

QuootiepieTheChristmasAss · 27/12/2006 15:42

I don't want to get them elsewhere, because these are perfect, and just the right size... quite hard to get the right sofas for our place...

OP posts:
MerryBiglipsmas · 27/12/2006 15:42

hope u will get it sorted

QuootiepieTheChristmasAss · 27/12/2006 15:43

me too. Think ill get DH to do it though, he's good at this sort of thing, im too polite and just say "oh, ok" and end up apologising

OP posts:
MerryBiglipsmas · 27/12/2006 15:43

well are you willing to hang on any longer? as i would ring up and make a complaint to the manager and demand something out of it

QuootiepieTheChristmasAss · 27/12/2006 15:45

Well, they aren't due in until the 2nd now... and im not sure they will budge on that. While I remember, ill get DH to phone them.

Tick them off? I would go apoplectic on them, how dare they get you to part with your money 3 months ago on a promise of delivery in time for Christmas and then not grovel with discounts and apologies. Rant, rave and refuse to accept them until you get them at the sale price.

marymillington · 27/12/2006 15:45

the very least is that you should get them sale price and get grovelling apology for being mucked about and having to sit on something else (hope it wasn't the floor!) over christmas.

QuootiepieTheChristmasAss · 27/12/2006 15:48

my mums all on about trading standards, getting them to give us 2 months intrest on our money etc. We did have more room for DSs presents over Christmas, but only had a recliner and a rocking chair to sit on!

this happened when ordered a bed when it didnt arrive on time or the time after that we went to shop and refused to leave until they promised us a bed to b delivered the next day and we told new customers not to bother they did threaten to have us removed from the store we said dont bother we'll leave of our own accord and tell the customers before they get through the door, they gave in and we got a bed the next day worth 2x the ammount we'd paid. They also threw in a matress protector and some pillows!

It's not good enough don't allow them to get away with it.

tassis · 27/12/2006 16:28

we ordered from harveys too and they've not arrived in time

we've been promised a cheque for £260 for compensation which we're really happy with (weren't too fussed about them being here for Christmas but that's not the point)

now just need to actually get the cheque in our hands...

QuootiepieTheChristmasAss · 27/12/2006 16:30

I would hope for more than that - they were £250 cheaper the next week in the sale I think...

I persoanlly would have cancelled but at least now you should ask for the sale reduction . They haven't met the delivery date promised at the time you paid the full amount and would not have parted with your cash then had you known it would be later. btw I seriously doubt Head Office is shut, try them yourselves , and make sure they know in no uncertain terms that you have never agreed to a post Christmas delivery.

tassis · 27/12/2006 16:44

(mine were already in the sale...this is a significant whack off what we're going to pay and we've signed up for interest free so I'd be very happy with a cheque)

QuootiepieTheChristmasAss · 27/12/2006 16:54

offered £100 cheque. They are in the sale now at 200 less than what we paid. DH cancelled the order and is getting a refund I really loved the sofas, but im sure ill find some elsewhere. Be another 2/3 months now!

LoveMyGirls

LOL

I did something like that in B&Q when I had trouble with my new bathroom delivery. And though as if by magic the missing parts appeared from around the back

DominiConnor · 27/12/2006 17:14

It is to be remembered at this time that no one wants to deal with an angry parent with two screaming kids.

QuootiepieTheChristmasAss · 27/12/2006 17:29

oooh, £200 now... DH has decided to accept that. Means only really £50, as they are £150 off at the moment to what we paid. But, at least we can put that money towards finishing off the living room.

Thats better than nothing

mysonsmummy · 27/12/2006 22:14

when i ordered my sofas from ikea they were a week or so late. i got £200 in vouchers as compensation. you really are entitled to get them at the price they are now and the extra £200 off. (even in vouchers is better than nothing).
