Dh loaded iTunes onto our puter last night when I was out and has managed to upload some of our cd's onto it and has bought a couple of tracks, but then it suddenly went into meltdown and froze!
Now when I insert a CD into the drive to upload it, nothing happens, the puter acknowledges the fact that you have put the cd in by whirring a bit but then nothing

What do i need to click on to make it all ok?

Pretty please.

It sounds as if it can't read that particular disc. Have you tried different ones? First rebbot computer then try a few different discs. Or you don't have enough memory for it to read. How old is your computer, mac or pc??

The pc is about 3 years old - don't tell me we need a new one! I've tried rebooting, different cd's etc but nada.

I don't understand why it would upload some cd's last night but not now, is it really the memory thing?

I can buy songs from iTunes though - typically

If it's 3 years old I would assume it's nothing to do with your memory.

When you put in a disc does it automatically open itunes? Can you play the disc at all or can you just not upload? If you can't play the disc then it could wll be your disc drive.

Lucycat · 20/12/2006 12:48

oh crap, sounds like it's the disc drive - nothing happens at all when I put the disc in, no iTunes nothing!

thanks for your help macca! at least I may have an vague idea what's going wrong now!

try cleaning the disk drive before you start paying someone to look at it - you can pick up a disk cleaning kit quite cheaply; failing that blow gently into the drive, dust may be covering the laser thing.

Good luck

Well we had our friend round last night who 'works in computers' and it's a problem with lots of Packard bell computers and iTunes, something in the computer causes it not to recodnize that there is a C drive there, so he had to go into the inner workings of the computer to recitify it then install a download from the internet to solve the problem! It took him 2 hours - but sooo worth the slab of Gunniess we bought as a thank you.

I really wouldn't know where to start - all menede now

Now to curb my spending on Itunes!"!
