Ok I know we're in the sticks and we should've expected it, but it's still miserable.

We don't have a Christmas tree, toilet paper is reaching critical and there are 3 tea bags left in the tin.

Our house is fine, but the only road to civilisation is blocked with floodwater. Even the neighbour's LandRover can't take it!

Go on rubberneckers - have a look - and give me some ideas of what on earth we can be getting up to???

No post either and the nearest post box (3 miles away) is currently submerged so there'll be no Xmas cards from us either.

Loch across the road

former campsite!

I know - I would beg you all to post out some tea bags (fair trade of course) but even the postie can't get through!

I feel very unpopular with no Chrissie cards since Tuesday Will make some myself to fill the gaps on my naff card holder....

Ah it's just like the Blitz spirit!

We get a lot of flooding here but its linked to the tides so never lasts longer than a couple of days, and I've never been trapped (highest part of the island!) but when I had my horse the fields round it used to turn into islands and we could use a boat or a tractor to get there!

Thats what you need a a Tractor much better than a 4X4

Skribble · 16/12/2006 21:37

Internet still fine

Lovely neighbour (with Land Rover) just knocked on the door while we were having tea and said he was doing a trip to the Spar! Supplies are on their way!!

Although that was a couple of hours ago now. He's either got sidetracked down the pub, or....

I'm sure he's fine.

We're now wondering if anyone actually knows we're out here.

Do you think the council etc should be doing anything?

What if I was an old lady with no-one to check on me, or one of the kids got ill - would I get an airlift??

Skribble - central Scotland it is! On the bonny bonny totally burst banks

Which loch? Loch Lommond?

bobsmum · 16/12/2006 22:42

Yup Loch Lomond. Where's your mum? Drymen?

No she is over by Loch Ard, there is a low wall running between the loch and the road just like that. It is bound to be very similar, if it gets blocked you can get to the village through the forestry roads though.

WE 're still stuck this morning.

Our neighbour just came round with our rations and he says that the Land Rover managed it and he hope a "normal" car could make it through sometime tomorrow.

Ds' nursery has a Christmas party on Tuesday so I really hope he won't have to miss that. He's already had a trip into town to see Santa cancelled. DD missed her Christmas party at her music group too.

Still no tree obviously. Dh is threatening to take his chain saw into the woods this afternoon so we might still get a wee straggly one yet!

On the plus side the skies are blue today for the first time in a month or so and it actually looks and feels like Winter.

We didn't make it to church. Dh was the preacher this morning so he's emailed his sermon and someone will read out his epistle instead Very Pauline .

Bored bored bored bored...

How are you now Bobs. I was over in Helensburgh at the weekend and it was pretty bad but obviously not as bad as you.

bobsmum · 18/12/2006 12:55

We got out to nursery this morning and are just back now. But only just!!

Of the four bits of flooding only one is still pretty hairy!! As long as there's no more rain we'll be ok. But we are definitely getting a 4x4 so this can't happen again. We'll have to remortgage the house to get one mind you.....

It's clear the day!

Glad to hear you are getting back out and restocking, bobs!

Some pals of mine live out in Arygll. The bloke is a native, so ever since he's had that house he's made it a point to keep the loft stocked w/essential items in bulk just in case.

jampots · 18/12/2006 13:00

we've been through a ford which was marked up to 2.5ft in our petrol land rover. Diesel ones are the ones to get through as they dont draw air in through the engine .... or something like that.

bobsmum · 18/12/2006 13:37

Jampots - it'll have to be diesel - everything is at least 20 mins away! Petrol was costing a bomb.

Dh is determined to use vegetable oil instead !!!

Postie's just pulled up - I'm so unfeasibly excited!@!!!!!!
