Loud and common

she says in her best Eastend accent

Shrill, shouty woman; maybe foul mouthed.

Comes ( think) from lady fishmongers shouting their wares on quaysides, each screaming louder to out do others.

SHOULD be in wikipedia, deffo.

coarse and vulgar

dictionary.com is very good - you need to put in fishwife (all one word)

other link I find useful is an idiom dictionary

you can look up stuff like say 'soul of discretion' - obviously that's an easy one but if you are not an English first language speaker or have trouble mixing up your idioms, it's quite useful

It's in Wiktionary , rather than Wikipedia.

I played a fish wife in Oliver at school. They had to give me the appearnce of bustiness with several metres of gaffer tape and a bit of eye liner. ( that might still work with my post breast feeding floppies)
