URGENT sodding fancy dress for DH & me

tomorrow is my work Christmas party

it's fancy dress themed as Cartoon Characters

We'd planned to go as Popeye and Olive Oyl

DH has just tried his outfit on
(white hat and red collar thing over navy shirt)

he looks as camp as a row of tents

very 'hello sailor!'

he is not happy

WTF can we go as at 24h notice?!

woke up with a splendid idea

Aladdin and Princess Jasmine

DH wears extra-baggy tracksuit bottoms, ancient waistcoat, fez (bought for a previous party) and small cuddly monkey
I wear sparkly midriff-flashing outfit I bought in Kathmandu and a long plait (possibly made of wool, am having a trip to town at lunchtime)

he is much happier
confessed he was v worried re how camp he looked in sailor outfit and wonders if (eg) people in the street think he's gay and seems to be Doubting His Masculinity...
he will be reassured at the sight of my lab-geek collegaues dressed as Smurfs.

you are probably right now enjoying yourselves at that party...lucky things! Glad you found something you are both happy with, and does sound fab...and lol at the smurfs...

I have no pics of us but may have to post one of an eminent young postdoc, bursting with promise, rising star in his field etc etc, painted blue and wearing a floppy hat...
