.... from my bag, in my kitchen, when I was in
I am really upset ...
One of two things could have happened ...
A) an opportunist came into my kitchen while DS, DD and I were in the living room and took it ...
OR
B) I have just joined a coffee group for mums with similar aged babies and it was the second time we have met and the first time they were at my house and I hate to say it but it could have been one of them ....
I don't know what to do ... apart from cancel my cards etc ...
I am really upset because of the photos of DS that I have in there ...

This is the second time we have been robbed in NZ ... I was never ever robbed in England ...

Want to come home

Ghosty - I'm really sorry.

All I can say is hopefully you've just had bad luck and nothing will happen again.

rockster · 15/05/2004 08:22

oh ghosty that's horrible, I guess you have to and put it down to bad experience. I honestly don't think it's anything to do with NZ. We were burgled while we were asleep upstairs and it was awful

(()) hugs

Ghosty that's just awful. I have also been burgled in NZ (and never in the UK)

You posted before about your next door neighbour being tricked out of some money, or having something stolen (can't quite remember sorry). Do you think it could be something similar?

Have you told the police? At least if other similar things have happened recently, which they should be able to tell you, you can rule out the other mums.

It's also worth having a good look around your garden and the street near your house. The person who took it could have thrown away what wasn't useful and you may get your wallet back.

Please forgive me for saying this, but your ds couldn't have moved it and now be too scared to admit it? God, I feel just awful even saying that. I hope I haven't made you feel worse.

Ghosty, that is really horrid - either possible scenario is pretty disturbing.

Thanks ....
Toddlerbob ... yes, it was my elderly neighbour that was robbed under her nose a few months back and it was a year ago that someone bashed our front door in and made off with our telly, video, computer and camera ...
We installed an expensive monitored alarm system and now someone has bloody well come in while I was at home ....
We did ask DS ... very casually said, "Darling, you haven't seen mummy's purse have you? I can't find it and need it to go to the shops." And it was quite clear he hadn't ... Don't worry, you didn't make me feel bad, the thought had crossed my mind too ... but he has never showed an interest in my purse before ...

Far out! Have you called the police?

Ghosty · 15/05/2004 09:09

No, not yet ... I will but when we got burgled last year (and that was a 'proper' burglary) it took 3 days for a policeman to come round ... NZ police spend all their time collecting speeding fines ... no time or resources for 'petty' crime ...

3 days! Since then haven't they got more cops from the UK precisely to help with this sort of thing? Maybe they could come in 2 days this time. Worth logging with them anyway, just in case anything happens with bank cards etc. and you have to prove you didn't have purse at the time. Gosh I'm such a cynic tonight aren't I?
