boring question about bath mats and Oilatum Junior bath wash

Yes, this is truly boring. Does anyone have a better non-slip bath solution than a bath mat for babies with skin troubles that need to be bathed in Oilatum Junior? I keep having to replace them as they get horrible and squidgy and the stuff won't wash off. But the bath's way to slippy for 19 month little dd without something under her bottom.

I sit my 17 month old dd in a bath seat as I find it so difficult trying to hold dd up with one hand, and wash her with other. The seat has those sucker things that stick to the bath. Maybe that's an idea. HTH

Dd won't sit in one of those, she likes to be reasonably mobile in the bath standing and sitting etc. I don't have to hold onto her that much nowadays, just keep my hands at the ready in case of an accident!

how much are u putting in? i have never had a problem with the bathmat going squidgey but i know the the emulysifyers and ezcema treatments can rot the seal on the washing machine. do u have a shower attachment? could u blast the bath mat with that after the bath. i used to put the bathmat on the tiles to drip dry after showering it down. havent had to replace it yet, and have had it about 9months.

We wash the mat (and bath) with a detergent soap (often just Carex liquid soap on a scrubbing brush) and rinse well, obviously, after each bath and it prolongs its life. Still gets gunky though, just takes longer. DD/DS's baths contain prescription Oilatum and aqueous cream used as soap.

Just putting 1 capful in misdee, I do shower it down but it still seems to go yellow and yucky looking. Maybe it's something to do with the heavy limescale in the water in London too.

BitBBH, we have the same stuff in dd's bath. Makes it a slippery bath for all of us! Will try scrubbing it with Carex, have got some of that around anyway.

Thanks.

Have you seen the things that you stick onto the bottom of the bath? You can get non slip circles from www.nonslipbath.co.uk that are really easy to stick on and are hardly noticeable. Some shops just sell bright garish childish shapes that spoil the look of the bath (not that all the toys around the edge don?t!). Anyway, they seem to do the job and are easy to clean. I?ve not tried them with oilatum but I just give them a quick scrub with a nail brush if they start to look dirty.
