I need the help of wise mumsnetters once again.

Brief summary of situation:

I am Senior member of staff at my workplace - the bosses are on holiday at present - one of my employees is proving to test my patience this week but don't want to jump in at the deep end incase it is just my pg hormones (which it could well be according to DP )

This particular member of staff has been late on several ocassions (is meant to be here at 8.50and rolls in at 9.05) - left 10 minutes early for lunch one day whilst i was out of the office, makes sandwiches mid-morning for a snack, doesn't start working til at least 9.20................................and the straw that has just borken the camels back........................he has only been here 4 weeks and has been told he will have no dealings with clients direct until he can prove himself capable - HE HASJUST INTRODUCED HIMSELF TO A CLIENT ON THE PHONE AND TOLD THEM HE IS WORKING ON THEIR CONTRACT.

Now, it is just me and my hormones or does this bloke need a good talking too??? It is distracting me from my work today as i am so angry at him.

Sounds like he's taking the p*ss to me. Make a list of all the things he's done which he shouldn't, show it to him and ask if he cares to comment.

MeanBean · 14/05/2004 13:10

It's not your hormones - he's out of order and he's undermining your authority. Kill him. Oops, I haven't even got the excuse of being pregnant, but men like that make me exceedingly cross.

tammybear · 14/05/2004 13:10

i agree with freckle, it does sound like he's taking liberaties (or however you spell it ) since the bosses are away. See if you can have a word with him about it as you're in charge

Not much help Im afraid. Hope you sort it out though

xx

He's definitely out of order and no doubt in breach of his contract. Nip it in the bud or he'll think his behaviour is acceptable.

SpringChicken · 14/05/2004 13:27

Thanks ladies - just needed to hear that i wasn't being completely unreasonable.
Know it sounds silly btu i ahte confrontations so would go to great lengths to avoid it but he IS taking the piss and i am going to sort it out.

Deliberately haven't said anything previously in the week to give him the benefit of the doubt but he has just carried on and on.
