distasteful diprobase?

has anyone had a problem using diprobase? i've been using it on dd, 3 months old, for the last few days and she's been doing a lot of groaning (not constipated) and showing of the bottom lip! It's just occurred to me that she could be getting it in her mouth as she tends to touch her head a lot (where i'm using diprobase for cradlecap), and likes to out her fingers in her mouth...am i being paranoid to think that diprobase could be upsetting her tummy via her roaming hands? any feedback greatly appreciated.

Hi. I have used diprobase on both my dc's for years and I have not noticed this problem. I wouldn't have thought it could cause an upset stomach, especially if your lo is just licking her lips or hand. She would only be getting tiny amounts. Maybe she is just tasting it?
Sorry not much help.

Never had a problem and DD and DS have both slurped handfulls when we've not been looking.

i think it is paranoia!! the teeny amount she could lick off her hand would not cause an upset tummy ! don;t worry..will be a coincidence...she might just have discovered how to make a new noise...

also, as diprobase is for use on the skin...unlikely to contain anything too irritating....

sure she is ok...NHS direct have a list of toxic medicines etc..so you could call for reassurance if you are concerned, esp. if you think she is ill....

have been using it on ds since he was the same age with no ill effects. And he has occasionally eaten some, including last night when he managed to grab hold of the tub and coat himself, the bath, the taps, ALL his bath toys (he's three now, was doing this while I was fetching his pyjamas).

Is diprobase the stuff you put in the bath? DD had several emollients to put in the bath when she was a baby and I had to warn the HV each time that she liked to to drink the bathwater. Always told wouldnt be a problem.

thanks all, that's very reassuring!

me and my boys never had probs with diprobase....but must say, for cradlecap I found plain ole oliveoil or grapeseedoil works fabulous

edam · 02/12/2006 22:57

Realjolly's right, olive oil is good for cradle cap.

I am an adult who uses Diprobase for excema. I've ingested some by gnawing at itchy, cream covered hands (sorry everyone) and i've never had a problem from this.
Don't know if that helps, or just grosses you out.
Sorry
