Help me decide which job to do...

I have a great job which is very flexible working around school hours etc from home. Last summer my boss's sister came to effectively job share with me, within a couple of weeks she complained to her brother that I was treading on her toes and he decided to let her do the job and move me solely to business development. Now he has roped his mum in to do part of my job too. He told me this yesterday along with the fact that I wasted last week because I hadn't produced any written work (due to sasser worm infecting my computer and not being able to clear it) although in actual fact I still did part of my job (telephoning etc) and also spent time trying to clear my computer. I feel he is trying to move his mum into my position and am suitably annoyed with him. I am p'ed off on several points because he hasn't extended his office virus protection to my home computer thereby exposing me (I am a bit of a techno idiot) and also my computer maintenance also seems to be my responsibility and is paid for by me. Anyway, my sister has offered me a job at her showroom as business development manager working from the showroom 2 days per week and home 2 days per week with 7 weeks holiday and fuel and expenses allowance. What would you do?

Well done for having a choice of 2 jobs -so remember you must be good at what you do. Obviously a big decision, so ultimately up to you, but if you wouldn't find it sticky working with your sister & it fits in with kids, I be tempted to go for the new offer before your boss moves his dog in next! Good luck

Oooh, jampot, see if you can get constructively dismissed (???) before taking your sister's job, and get some money out of him! (Am assuming she will also be flexible about school hours?)

(You treading on her toes? Hello? Cow!)

I do feel like I'm being pushed out. In the office the lawyers/paralegals all turn up any time between 9.30-10 take time off to get their cars fixed, they all go to the pub for lengthy lunches (including boss) and seem to spend most of their days surfing the net for holidays/cars/ jokes/emails etc. Obviously a bit of work is being done but I would love to see them all complete a time sheet. Sister would be able to cover school holidays. Do you have any idea about constructive dismissal as the only employment expert I know is my boss's wife!!!

Have a look at this , jampot.

As I understand it if they change your conditions of work to the extent that you can't stand it any more and resign, that's constructive dismissal (but don't quote me!).

Visit to CAB might be in order?

I would think the fact that you are being sidelined by members of boss's family is distinctly dodgy as far as employment law is concerned?

Thanks Janh - that's really helpful. I'll make a call in the morning (in works time obviously)
